morels!

they are up in northern il. nice grey's and yellows are poppin!

got about 2.5 pounds yesterday. hoping for a few more before the seasons up!

Yes they are. They are very tasty and usually sell around $40 a pound. I try to get around 7 or 8 pounds and eat them till the next season begins. They grow for only 3-5 weeks generally a year so its wise to get in the woods and find'em. Its also nice way to spend time outdoors with the family. I promise if you eat some you'll get hooked. Delicious shrooms.

So how are these different(in terms of looks) from the other kind of 'shrooms? I ask b/c I never tried the "goofy" ones and never will.

I always try stuff. how will you know what is good in life. gotta try. im telling you, you wouldnt believe how good they taste. i was unsure when i first saw them but now every year im in the woods hunting at the first sign of a yellow dandylion in the grass. <indicator sign that the season is on. tom i think the season was up last week for you guy's. but they a known to pop if you have right temp's now and then. i have about 2 ponds frozen so far. if you have no luck i can ship you out some. for all the past info you have givin me. im heading out today with my daughter to find more. she is a great little shroom hunter cuz she's only 3 feet tall. she is pretty much on the ground.

Did not realize that morels grew outside of MI. This year was not a good for morels here, first year I haven't had any. Pic's made me want steak and srooms. :cry:

We used to get them in Kansas and Missouri. They are huge in the northwest.
