anyone know of a thread that describes the best way to remove/replace the UCA's? I've looked here and online and cannot find any info on this. I know the manual will explain it, I was hoping to see pics, or read of some tips for torquing the bolts in those tight spaces....

Super easy to do, esp the right side, 20-30 minutes at most even with taking the tire off, left side maybe 10 minutes more.
Some remove the battery for more room but I've done them with out since I'm lazy

cool. when I first bought the jeep, I had to take it back in because the uca bolts were loose, the PO didnt tighten them enough before he installed new arms when he traded the jeep in. So the dealer made a big fuss after the mechanic tightened them, that they had to put it on the rack, and use pipes on the end of the wrenches because they couldnt get enough torque w/o them blaa blaa blaa.

But I am mechanically inclined and can do it as long as a full lift is not required (good thing cause the wife would move out if I had a lift in the driveway). I saw the tutorial and it looks simple enough. Now if anyones's selling some used AL's arms or insane arms......anyone??

hey 2006 KJ I saw your vids, i think that was you, where you were crusing around in the snowy creekbed and the other where you were wheeling and had to winch out...I was wondering, how stiff is the front end with the OME Franky setup? It kinda looked like you had to be careful not to bottom out over boulders? Or is that not a factor at all? I take it you have the 790 springs?

yup that was me.. i absolutely love my 790 springs/frankenlift set up. it is outstanding ride/wheeling quality. never had a problem bottoming out... i'm just a careful wheeler. i wouldnt use the 790 springs unless you have a steel bumper and winch. I now have the passanger side AL arm installed, drivers removed, pockets opened up, and ready to put in the other.. the hardest part is the rear bolt on the drivers side and enlarging the holes where the bars mount. not hard just a pain in the bum.

cool thanks for the info. ya I have the same bar/winch setup. had it since I bought the rig in 08. The PO just never installed a quality lift, so I think he got discouraged/confused and traded it in. For me its been a matter of money, and the fact that I have my Bronco II for the trails, but will be selling that soon, so the time for a good lift has come.

Let me know how the drivers side goes, if you have any tips for making it easier etc...

okay gl with the rest of the uca install!

Drivers side you just need a good swivel and plenty of extensions or one longer one to reach out to the radiator area. Takes a little more time to get to it and done but very doable. Front one is like the right side real easy

Oh as far as the 790s are concerned there are 3 of us here in Ohio running them and they have all been wheeled with no problems at all.

i took out the 2 bolts from in the fender well to loosen the steering linkage support and move it out of the way to get to the nut easier.. then i used a ratchet wrench to get the nut off. when i was putting it back on i put the T-bolt from the front to the rear (T part towards the front of the jeep).. so i could put the nut on the rear part of the mount... extremely easy to tighten it with the nut on the opposite side. every thing went very well and it's getting lined up now. SOOOOO nice to drive without any clunking of the stock a-arm hitting the bump stop on my frankenlift. drives smoother and everything. great product and outstanding service as always from jeepin by al.
