Does anyone know if the TJ Rubicon's MOAB rims will fit with ABSOLUTELY no wheel clearance/rubbing on a stock '06 Liberty Renegade??

We're looking at putting the MOAB rims with BF Goodrich T/A KO or possibly Goodyear MT/R tires on our otherwise stock '06 Liberty Renegade, but we want to avoid having any rubbing issues.

Well I'm sure the rims won't rub, but if you plan on adding tires...

What size tires are you considering? If you stick with a stock size then chances are good you wouldn't have any rubbing. But I don't know if the stock size tires can be mounted on a 8" wide rim.

Check the pics section for 05-06 Libs with Moab rims.

I'm confused - why would you want to change out the rims if you don't plan on getting larger tires? I was pretty sure the point of the rubicon rims over the stock rims was to get the different backspacing and wider rim...

So...if I've got this right...the rubi rims have different back spacing which will allow a bigger tire even on a non lifted Liberty??

If yes, does anyone know what size of tire an otherwise stock '06 Renegade will fit with the Rubi MOAB rims??

Stock size. Sorry if you want no rubbing and unwilling to consider a lift then you're stuck. Possibly a 245/70/16, but with the new offset there's no telling. Even those might rub.

Sorry I cant help you about what size tire will fit with no rubbing on a stock KJ.

Bro , if you want Rubi rims and tires, you'll need a lift....otherwise you'll have to buy a smaller tire. The 245/75/16's that are stock on rubi rims...especially on an MTR will rub likes nuts and probably cause some damage to the tire and wheel wells.

I guess I'm the expert here on the rubi rims on a non-lifted post 2002 gasser KJ. (mine's an '05 sport for reference)

Spent days going over this even to the point of fitting several size tires on the rims to see what rubbed and didn't.

I love my rubi rims!!! No questions there. The stance is a bit wider and the rim is a full inch wider taking a bigger tire and it looks like a jeep.

Final size tire I got on it was 255/65/16's WITHOUT any rubbing. Anything taller or wider just rubbed. Nice is that these tires are witin .01 inch of the factory stockers so no speedometer difference either. Wish I could post a pic but got to admire the change in the looks and the ride.

The MOABs will fit with no rub, but be careful about the tire you choose. There could be rub under some circumstances even with a lift (IE: backing up turn)
utility knife to bumper action comes in handy there.

I have the Rubi's on my unlifted 02 KJ (post lowered production) w/ 245/70/16 and only have minor kissing at full lock.

What is more important is the OAD of the rubber. I think mine are 29.6" while the OEM rubber was I think 29.1"

The MTR at 31" will not fit mine without a lift.

yes they do...replaced the steel rims with the moab rims, and kept the stock 215/75/16 tires. The lip of the rim slightly exposed because of the extra width and my speedo is off slightly, but otherwise it does work.

to save money...i only had 8k miles on the tires when i made the switch. At the first change i'm going to find a tire that takes full advantage of the extra width and gets me back to the original OAD.

Just saw a new set of 5 go on ebay for 625 including shipping. Got mine for 500 including shipping off ebay, they had 5k miles on them but were in very good condition. I remember reading a thread somewhere in this forum that if you go to http://www.rubiconownersforum.com (you have to register to see the forum), you might find a good deal.

With the new rims you might want to even go smaller if you want absoutly no rubbing. My stock 235/70R16s even rubbed a tad bit at full flex. I think the increased offset will cause them to rub at full flex. However, I not sure you can put a 235 series on an 8" rim though, let alone a 225 or 215 series tire.

If you want ABSOUTLY NO rubbing then you will need to just leave it as it and even then at full flex it might run just the slightest bit. The increased offset will cause just a tad bit of rubbing at full flex even with stock size tires.

Honestly though, I lifted and threw on a set of 245/75R16s with stock rims at it rubbed just a tad. Mainly when off-road. It is nothing that can't be fixed with a heat gun and 10 minutes worth of work.
