I was watching a show on the History Channel International about the excavation of a pyramid site. The archeologist drove to the site in a KJ! 8)

I lie to you not!!!!! My convoy was northbound on the main highway through Iraq and we were passed by a silver KJ. Someone has a pic, I'll see if I can get a hold of it.

It appeared to be black. They didn't have much footage of the outside of it. It had a brush guard on it too.

Why do you guys think that everyone outside the US drives on the wrong side of the road? :)

Image

LHD ..only in the blue countries....
RHD...only in the red

originaly LHD but now RHD...all orange Image

Green: Once had different rules of the road (depending on one's location), but now drives on the right.

Your "RHD" and "LHD" is making my brain hurt, then I realized the map was showing what side of the ROAD you drive on, not what side of the vehicle:
RHD usually implies the left side of road (i.e. great britain, aussies, india, etc)
LHD usually implies the right side of the road

I was thinking....crap, I thought I owned a LHD vehicle all this time :) That's right, I do!

If you drive the correct type of vehicle for a specific country...the driver is always in the middle of the road. No matter where on earth you are. ;)

Apparently, Arab American Vehicles (http://www.aav.com.eg/Pathtosuccess.html) assembles them there (the other non-U.S. assembler is currently in Venezuela), but the parts are still all produced in Toledo, OH.

Interesting -- AAV is building the J8 (as a 2 or 4 Dr LHD or RHD) with a VM Motori 2,8L diesel in Egypt:

http://www.aav.com.eg/Product_TJL-J8.html

They also have an interesting selection of options for the LJ (called the TJL there obviously):

http://www.aav.com.eg/moreTJLoptions.html

As well as selling the current KK "Cherokee" with the 3,7L:

Because the British Empire had a huge influence on infrastructure around the world during initial industrialization. And the British drive on the wrong side of the road... so...
