I don't know if this has been listed here before, but I found this site through google and have signed myself. The more sigs maybe finally a recall? Probably not, but it couldn't hurt...

I have had 2 go out in the last month (1 today). This is beyond retarded at this point, they know they should recall but they won't because it is not a "safety" issue. So they pass the buck which cheap temp fixes until it is out of warranty and then it is on the owner. My jeeps year is an 07 and this is the 6th or 7th time i have had regs go out on me. Last 1 (that was under warranty) they ended up replaces the window also. These last 2 are out of warranty. Petition signed.

Edit: called Chrysler just now and complained, they opened a repair ticket for the 2 windows. Seems They are not on recall but Chrysler is fixing them for free, so if your dealer wants to charge you call up Chrysler and have them open a ticket.

Doubt there ever will be a recall, not a safety issue.

And be thankful if Chrysler is paying the bill as they do not have to honor anything after Fiat took over and they came out of Ch 11.

I'm just getting sick of the "gimmie, gimmie" attitude poeple have these day's,and they want it all for free also. They need to wake up and step into reality.Plus if you think the KJ has window regulator issue you should own a BMW,then you'll want the KJ's issues back ASAP after seeing that repair bill every 6 months.

I know. I totally agree. They sell a product to me and then I have the audacity to expect it to work correctly. I feel bad. I think I will send a check to Chrysler; they probably need more of my money. Maybe I will send a check to BMW too. Anybody else want to get in on this, we can put together a care package for those poor execs. Maybe some flowers and a basket of fruit also. :D

I still have all 4 of my original window regulators that came from the factory in my KJ still and I'm a smoker so they get used more then most use them, plus I don't use AC either.

Okay. That's great. If you don't have a problem then everyone else should ignore theirs? Maybe people abused their windows, probably too much food on the window tray at the drive-in. They probably broke them on purpose because they like to spend money. I wish we were all smart enough to not break ours. :SOMBRERO:

On a side note, the passenger window on my EIGHTY FIVE F-250 went out, I won't start a petition for that though since it is 25 years old. Oh, that and it turned out to be a broken wire.

Please post confirmation of all BMW's requiring this repair every 6 months and the cost... that would truly be some informative reading. I have 2 brothers and an uncle with BMW's dating back 10 model years and none have suffered this assured 6 month failure. ( the E46 that has a bit of an issue can be fixed in less than an hour and the price of a zip tie...hardly comparabe to the KJ issue)

Those KJ'ers "in the know" realize that the failures are primarily confined to late '05's and on... Saying an early KJ hasn't had a problem is a little like saying that there hasn't been any ESP failures on an '02

Oh maybe the 2-3 a month I get to replace the regulators in at work, all newer models.Compared to the whole 2 KJ's I done in 2 years.

I will not pop 350-450 bucks every 6 months on these regulators. To think this is "gimme gimme" is extremely ignorant. What a joke. They should be recalled and fixed with something similar to the steiger bracket, or else they will keep failing one after another. And I beg to differ that it is not a safety issue. It very well could be, especially if you have little tykes aboard. It is not "gimme, gimme", it is expecting quality...
AND another thing! Cigarettes will kill you!! Seriously though, I wish they would come up with a permanent fix...

I am surprised at how many BMW owners frequent Firestone for repairs...

Being pimped for tie rod ends with every alignment @ firestone is cheaper than being pimped from the dealer....?

I took an informal poll today from the 7 BMW owners that I know at my daughters' cheerleading camp: Of the 4 models represented ( 2 X5, 1 X3, 3 3series, 1 5 series) NONE have experienced a window regulator failure. Coupled with my brothers' z3, Mroadster, and uncle's 745, there were no failures.... (yes, I would really do that)

Strange that no comment about early / late failures.....
