I purchased a frankenlift and am needing bigger tires.
I am going to go with General Grabber AT 2's in 245/75/16.
I really don't know if I need to buy a brand new spare.
Will any "good" as in decent tread amount of tire work as a spare in the same size, 245/75/16?
Thanks

Or maybe just a tire cover?

I don't think its worth spending extra money on a tire that will barely see the pavement (or dirt), especially for it to just be stolen.

Any tire the same size will work (even though a different tire make/model may be slightly different in size), because you only want to be running your spare until you can get the orig replaced.

But I'm with TJKJ, I always use the same tire for my spare as what is running on the ground. I suppose you could rotate your tires often and throw the 5th into the rotation so that you don't have a brand new expensive tire just sitting there baking in the sun and never getting used. But if you keep purchasing the same tire make/model over the years then you only have to buy the spare once, when it's time to replace your tires you just keep the same spare.

or do like I did when I moved up to 245/70R16 get 4 now. then at your next tire rotation get the 5th and have them do a 5 tire rotation on your set from then on. this way one tire is always off the road, they will all 5 wear out the same and last 20% longer.

I also have a 235/70 that has seen very little wear I would like to get rid of to someone local to use as a spare. If intrested maake me an offer.
