like the title says I have looked around and know i have low pressure. I have seen the cans at auto parts stores and looked how its done. I'm confident that I could do it my self however A/C is something I dont want to cheap out on its nice when its ice cold lol. So my question what would be the difference between the store bought coolent and the dealership besides the price?

I would say that you can refill/top off yourself. Just get one of the kits that have the gauge on the fill tube. It is pretty easy to do.

That being said, if you are low, you have a leak in a line or connection somewhere. Dealer can put a dye in the lines and find the leak with UV light. Then they will fix the problem. But if it is a very slow leak, I'd just refill myself. Just depends on how often you have to top it off.

Also, it is much better to use a full set of actual A/C gauges to fill. You can get the exact correct pressure that way. You need to adjust the pressure in the system depending on the ambient temp when you are filling. The gauges in the kits just give you a range.

You can get a set of full gauges at Harbor Freight for around $50. No, they are not really nice gauge sets, but they will work for the few times most of us will use them in our driveway.

Good Luck

I got the 22oz one from wally world that has the hose/gauge on it for 30 bucks.
Filled up my a/c, it was bone dry, and now my a/c is ICE cold.
Plus, you can keep the gauge after the can is empty and use it to check the pressure.
I was iffy about it but gave it a try and works great.
