Does anyone have a picture of a CRD intercooler? Anyone ever replaced/upgraded the intercooler. I've tried alot of searching, but I can't find a replacement or upgrade anywhere. Is the dealer the only source?

I don't know of anyone who makes an aftermarket intercooler for the CRD. Luckily ours is very efficient thermally. I didn't test pressure loss, but thermally it tested very good. You can search my posts for the data.

Any pictures of how it mounts? I'm converting to diesel and I need to install an intercooler - I figured using a factory CRD intercooler would be easiest, but I haven't been able to find one yet so I was looking at other options but I have no idea where they mount the factory one.

What a can of worms your opening up there. The intercooler in the CRD is part of a sandwich of coolers, from front to back - AC condensor (which has a tranny cooler in the lower section, then the intercooler, then the radiator). These pieces interlock with plastic tabs. If you could find a CRD that had been totalled by being rear-ended then perhaps you could find an undamaged front cooler section that you could grab. But in coverting any thing to a CRD your going to need a lot more than just an intercooler - the whole wiring loom is different to start with. Just buy a second hand one.

I posted a few pics awhile back when I replaced mine. On this thread:

Good luck!

Thanks Mark, thats what I was looking for. Glend: It's a bit of a can of worms, but it's not even a Jeep diesel that I'm attempting to install. So now that I know how big that factory CRD intercooler is, I'd love to use one, but I wonder if one would fit in between the non-crd condenser and rad with some modification. There doesn't appear to be much room for either a front mount intercooler or a side mount as it sits. Of course, once I decide what intercooler to use, I'm not opposed to some cutting...
