Fulltimer and Yellocoyote deserve the credit (1st pic is Flint River, GA, June 2009 and the rest are LOST ECS, TN, October 2009)

I agree 100%. The General Grabber AT2 is an EXCELLENT tire. They ride smooth, protect the wheels, and bite hard in ALL conditions. Most sizes are severe snow rated, and they are studdable. They are tough as nails too. All around, it's probably the best truck/SUV tire you can buy for the money.

However, if you spend 99% of your time on the road I would recommend going with the Firestone Destination AT. Reason why is because the Generals are heavy and they are loud. For a mostly on road AT tire, the Firestone is where it's at. The road noise with the Generals (especially between 30-35 MPH) is really getting on my nerves some... as is the extra weight and rolling resistence of the General which zaps fuel economy.

I think I might also add a set of JBA headers along with the Generals to try to offset the lost power and might try to gain some of the lost fuel economy. I guess every little thing helps.

I've been down on my Grabbers lately due to the road noise so I thought I'd post something postive.

Even half worn the wet road traction continues to be amazing. We are in the middle of an unusual summer nor'easter and its been raining for 3 days. The roads are flooded and every road surface has water on it.

Both braking and acceleration traction are still notable. These are the conditions where other all terrain tires I've had became scary and required using 4x4.

This is exactly why I'm frustrated with purchasing all terrain or all season tires and they do not perform as should in simplest of weather conditions such as heavy rain and a few inches of snow. Enough is enough, I'll deal with a little road noise and what maybe 1-2 miles increase in mpg to not worry about fish tailing on roads.

I checked my tires and I'm down to between 13/32nds - 14/32nds depending on exactly where you stick the tread guage in. At this rate, I should get between 50,000 and 60,000 miles out of these tires.

In addition, I put one of the Renegade wheels + Grabber AT2 on the bathroom scale and it came to exactly 60.0 lbs. That's not horrible really, considering that a lot of the guys running "E" rated tires have that much in the tires alone.

Traction continues to be awesome and the tires haven't let me down.

Another big shout-out for the Grabber AT2. Had 12" snow drifts in my driveway this morning. Snow covered roadways everywhere, wind chill temp. 1 degree, blowing snow, the whole nine yards. Just VERY nasty weather compared to how December usually is for us. And the Grabber AT2s did an excellent job. I got around a lot of places in 2 wheel drive.

These tires are just flippin' awesome.

I got mine this year, mounted and balanced on the road for like $578 or something around there. I would NOT pay $148 for this tire...get 'em from tirerack.com. They'll ship 'em to you soon enough. It doesn't take long for them to restock.

A good alternative is the Hankook ATM RF10 if you can't find the Generals. Similar price, slightly less aggressive, quieter and smoother.

I ran them for years on my xj's. Good tire, very similar to the Generals. Too much $ in my opinion compared to the Generals and Hankooks.

I really, REALLY wanted to get a set of AT2's when I bought my '04 Liberty in October.
Unfortunately, locally they were unavailable & Tirerack had them on back order.

Since I really, REALLY didn't like the Kuhmo Solus KR21's that were on it at the time, and
I really, REALLY didn't want to wait "several weeks" for the AT2's, I picked up a set of
Destination AT's on the advice of the ONE GUY at the ONE TIRE SHOP in town
that didn't try to sell me what he had in stock at the time. :furious:
He ordered the tires on Wednesday, installed them on Friday, pulled the Kuhmo's &
I sold them for $250, which covered half the cost of the Firestones.

So far so good..........

I absolutely LOVE these General Grabber AT2 tires.
Here in NYC, NY, we had a pretty nasty blizzard, not to mention the politics of the roads not being plowed until two full days after the end of the snowfall.
I didn't get stuck once. Most of the time in two-wheel. For the price I think this is the best tire you can get. :2cents: :2cents:

Same here! Drove after the blizzard on unplowed streets and never got stuck. I had to drive around all the stuck cars in the road. They were mostly little 4 cylinder cars which people bought to save gas. Funny how many of them I saw just abandoned on the road.
