Cheers,
That is the engine breather filter, the PCV valve on '02-'06 3.7's are mounted in the oil fill tube. The '07+ 3.7's (KJ/KK) moved the PCV valve to one of the valve covers if I remember correctly.

Yep, back side of the head on the right hand side

I bought a new PCV valve (for $5, I might as well just replace it and not worry about it), and it doesn't look anything like the what is in Diggerfreak's picture, so I took that into the local Schucks (O'Reilly's) and was told that was a Crankcase breather, not a PCV valve. I had the guy take a quick look at my engine (2007 Liberty Sport) and he was stumped. I also showed it to a few local mechanics and they were equally stumped. Anyone know where the little bugger lives?

Update: After talking to a few mechanics who thought they could find it, it turns out that Diggerfreak is in fact correct. I took it to the stealership and had one of their mechanics show me where it is. Picked up the $15 part and I am all set. Thank you Diggerfreak :D
Forgot to mention, the mopar part number for a new PCV valve is 53034065AA and it looks like this when you take it out of the package.

On some of the earlier 3.7L's there was a TSB(2500108) regarding the PCV valve freezing up in colder climates. That's probably why they relocated it to the valve cover on new models. Apparently they never heard the old saying, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Millions of vehicles have been manufactured with the PCV valve located in the valve cover.

Can someone who replaced their PCV valve (the one located on the back of the engine) explain how they did it? I tried pulling the rubber hose off but thought I was going to break it. Assuming that I can pry the hose off, do I then just need to find a socket big enough to fit around the valve and unscrew it? Thanks.

Does anyone know what size socket I would need? I think it is 34 or 35mm deep but I don't have one and I didn't want to order the wrong one.

Thanks

Scott
