subwoofer idea

whats up guys, i been looking to get new gear for my libby. i just keep bouncing ideas off my mind and stuff but i dont want to loose my trunk or backspace to a huge subwoofer box. i like to throw my stuff in the back and haul around stuff so i need that space to move stuff. but i been thinking about two subs under the back seat in that blank area. tell me if you like or whatever any input is good. if you have other stuff like deck and stuff just shoot me some messages with pics cause i wanna see what people do. thanks guys.

Has anyone looked at mounting a sub to the inside of the roof? Only lose height cargo space and not the low regularly used cargo space. Just a thought.

to mount them on the roof you would need a roll bar or some structure to go in the back. It will cut your rear visibility.

you could put them under the seat but then you will have trouble laying them flat.
Stealth box is what I would do get it soon he his selling it cheap as dirt.
or get a nice box made find a real audio guy not best buy.

has anyone ever thought of putting a couple of thin subwoofers in one of the cargo covers? the ones that specially built and everything. is it just not worth it or it can't be done? just wondering. the idea of having it in the tailgate was pretty cool though.

to heavy it would have to be a solid cargo rack.
it would rattle the bases. but all is possiable if any of you live un south florida my friend does the sickest sound system and know know what his talk about. i will make

Just got a 8" Legacy sub for $10 shipped and am creating a box to fit under the passenger seat. It is a cheapy sub and is only 150 Watts RMS, 300 Max. I would do one under each front seat but already have a 12" Infinity in the trunk that sounds great but I found these for such a great deal it seemed to be a fun project. I will be building a box and bought another amp that should arrive on Monday and will let you know how it sound!

Will do. Box was started tonight, but after thinking more about it, I decided I was going to wait til morning with some daylight to take some more measurements, I at least got the bottom first angle and one side done, but thats the easy part!

Some of you need to look into flat subwoofers, these will give you the size you need without having to build large boxes or put them in places that are tight on spaces. Yes JL does make very good products, but I would not go out and say they are the greatest.

Thinking "outside the box", this is what I like to see. Personally I would have left it as a sealed box. Very clean install.

Right before i clicked the link, i was about to post this anyways... I used to be an Alpine Dealer a few years ago, and our sales rep put a 10" sub in the 'tailgate' of his Liberty as well. Actually, i think he did an amp back there too... hard to remember as i get older. but eitherway, a very nice setup !!

I'm in the process of brainstorming for my sub install next week... got 90% of the wiring for my system done today, got VERY carried away (will be starting a thread next week sometime just for kicks) and that was one of my ideas to do it in the tailgate, but i think i'll be doing something similar to the JL stealthbox, but with some quick disconnects for if i need the cargo area.

I don't recommend the roof sub as someone asked, for all the same reasons already posted. it's a LOT to suspend up there!
