Had the Jeep scanned at O'reilly, and they got P0093, not P0039 which is what flashes on my dash. This was called a "Large fuel leak" by the code scanner they used. Odd. I think I read on these forums somewhere that the codes between the dash and a scanner were showing transposed numbers. I guess it's true?

Here's my response from GDE:

"I am going to assume you meant P0093 as P0039 does not existed on the KJ
application. P0093 is caused by fuel starvation and can be caused by a
plugged fuel filter (20-25k change interval based on my recollection) or an
air leak in the fuel supply line. Are you still using the stock fuel/water
separator? The fuel heater circuit in this part tends to melt and allow air
in the fuel, thus causing the error code. Mopar has a redesigned part that
fixes this issue."

So.. perhaps this "turbo bypass valve" is not the issue. It looks as though my issue may actually be a fueling issue while under WOT. Hmm..

Sounds like a classic case of "air in the fuel filter head" :jester:

Well, I called my local O'reilly and they said they would clear the codes for me for free. Yay, so I get to save myself a painful $89 diagnostic fee at a stealership.

If the code comes back again I'm going to have to dig into this though and figure out what I can do to solve it. What the heck is a "turbo boost bypass valve" anyway? I thought we didn't have wastegates?

Can't you just disconnect the battery for 10-15 minutes to clear the codes? I have always heard this, never had a reason to do it.

No, disconnecting the battery did NOT clear this light.

So yeah, they are recommending the upgraded Mopar filter head assembly for me. $100 in parts for that.

Somebody posted a poll recently asking if "you plan to keep your CRD past 100K" and I am starting to wonder now. 9 months of ownership.. $500 CAC hose repair, $700 TC repair, u-joints, $125 t-stat, $100 fuel head, etc... it's starting to get old now.
