I'm waiting on my lift to arrive, and Ive been contemplating which tires I want to run, Ive decided on running 31x10.50r15s,
My question is on the backspacing, it seems the common is 4"-4.5" of backspacing, which is better? will either work? And does one rub more than the other?

many people will say 4" but im running 3.75" of BS on a set of cragar D-windows, 15x8, and it works perfectly with no rubbing. But id say stay around the 3.75"-4" BS mark.

Depends on the width of the wheel.

15X7 = 4" backspacing is best

15x8 = 5" backspacing is best

I run 16x8 with 4.5" backspacing, and they still work great. I like having the wider stance, but at the expense of a little rubbing up front.

Are you sure you have 8" wide wheels? :shock:

thanks for the replies, i'm gonna run a 15x7, i'm gonna go ahead and go for the 4" bs, since your at 4.5" and its working well, i'll be plenty good at 4".

ryanee182, i see in your sig youre running ss m-16s, how do you like them? thats one of the tires ive been considering, the reviews online seem to be all over the place with what people think of them.

I've been wondering about this too. I might possibly fall into some 31x10.50 tires soon but I'd have to buy 15" wheels.

I noticed that Quadratec sells 15x8 Black Rocks with 4.5 or 4.75" of backspacing for $59.99. I might go that route.

So far, I love them! They do surprisingly well in heavy rain for a MT, but haven't had them in snow. Off-road: I haven't had much time to fully test them, but they haven't disappointed me yet. They get a bit noisy around 40 MPH, but are quiet (for a MT) above/below 40 MPH. My only small complaint is they like to pick up small rocks in the tread. They are the best looking tire I have ever owned, and get complements on them all the time! I'd say get them, if you can find them...
