I called the dealer today to get a price on a trac-lock from an '05, thinking I could put it in my '06. the service guy said that it won't work due to the ESP. the main diffrence, I hear, is that there is one ABS sensor on '05's (in the pumkin) and one on each wheel for 2006. is this true?

Hmmm... I don't know.. I know there is a guy on here that has a locker on an 06.. I don't remember who it was...

I don't see why it wouldn't work... I will have to call my dealership and ask them..

Ben

I wouldn't think that a limited slip differential and ESP would play well together at ALL. ESP operates by applying the brakes to the wheel that slips, thus transferring power to the other wheel. a Trash-Lock uses the differential to accomplish the same task. You probably don't want two competing systems in there, unless you have them BOTH on switches.

My suggestion is to get a real rear locker on a switch and never use ESP and the locker at the same time.

You might be surprised how well ESP does at keeping you moving. It's a different principle than a locker (locker would keep both wheels spinning at the same rate, regardless of traction, ESP/LSD will try to prevent one wheel from losing traction and spinning helplessly). The only time I can imagine you'll have major issue with ESP vs a locker is when you have very low traction on all wheels, and ESP will be so busy applying the brakes it won't actually transfer much power at all.

Thanks for the replies. I think I may wait to see how the driveline aftermarket responds to the ESP on the liberty and other DCX cars.

I guess I don't really need a LSD, but I don't really need a 4x4 with 295lb/ft tq either. I just like thought it.

Haha, yes you do! We all need that much torque!
