I have a bearing that is going bad in the passenger side front hub. I have ordered a replacement hub, but am not sure whether I will need to use a puller to remove the hub. I know that I can get the axle nut wrench from Autozone on a loaner basis. If I will need a puller to remove the hub, could I get that from Autozone as well?

Thanks, Tom.

I didn't want to take it down and have to put it back together to go get a puller.

do you have the right size socket for the rear takes a special one for those, I forget the size and too lazy to walk from the garage up to the office to look it up.

You'll need an E-torx socket to remove the hub - E14 should be the size. There are 3 bolts.

EDIT: Just found this - might help. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=54492&p=612239

Thanks, Yellow Coyote. I didn't know about the E-torx socket requirement. The other info is helpful also. I did order the hub with the Timken bearings. I know that they make a quality product and I didn't want to have to change it out again in a few thousand miles.

No such thing for a KJ with the stock IFS setup,no kits and no possibility of a kit unless you fab it yourself.Does not matter anyway as you will not see any better mpg's from "unlocking" the front diff/hubs in a KJ.Plus the setup the KJ's use is the cheapest(to fix) and the strongest setup, much stronger then any manual/auto locking hubs, but at the trade off of being non-serviceable thus not lasting as long overall.Though having servciceable bearings you must actually re-pack them every year or so or they will not last either.

Gatta SFA it to get the manual locking hubs, what I did.
