Found this website questioning if the Liberty should have been given the Renegade package.

A real loser since he bashes the Jeep Thing also. He can post his personal opinion about Jeep Libertys. I'll post mine. He obviously doesn't see the high number of 9-5 Wranglers that are pavement-only all over the country also, so I have to say he knows nothing about Jeeps.

These are the worst articles I ever read! He hates Jeeps so much but then he drives one as well. Makes no sense.

" undeniably lame as they roll off the showroon floor " ?? and " the jeep cj`s are the only real jeep guys " ?? they sold alot of liberty`s since 2001 and am pretty sure some have seen the dirt. Not knockin the CJ but how can a vehicle that was made in the 80`s compare to one made knowadays ?? He says he stopped behind one at a stop light but no mention of test driving one ? thats a terrible article, this is just some eegit`s impression of a vehicle he knows nothing about. Pfff

This article didn't surprise me. Some people just can't see past unfair stereotypes. I get picked on at work for driving a liberty, especially since i lifted it. Only true Jeep enthusiasts can see the good, and the purpose of the entire jeep line. Even the Patriot has its deserved place in the lineup.

IMO, Chrysler saved Jeep by offering more vehicles to choose, all of which are still capable in their own purpose. I find it hard to believe that Jeep would be where it is today without the refinement of the XJ, the well rounded ZJ, and of course the underestimated KJ, since you cant drive 25ft without seeing at least one. Oh well, Matt Higgins just won't know what he's missing out on.

I do have to ask though, (not making fun of the CJ's, as I do like them) is there any difference in a CJ or YJ renegade (other than asthetics) when compared to a regular CJ/YJ??

The best thing to do is leave a tactfully worded comment such as what I did. I invited him to check out our website to explore the capability of a Liberty, Renegade or not. We're a good bunch or guys and gals, so instead of bashing him and calling him names, perhaps we should attempt to make him a believer!

Here is a reply I received from Matt Higgins regarding his blog about Liberties:

Hello Scott,

I saw your comment on my blog and posted it. Keep in mind that a voice of reason will get you nowhere online. I mean that lightheartedly, of course.
In fact, my entire blog is lighthearted. I love Jeeps, but I don’t believe I need to have gushing fanboy site in order to be onboard. In my opinion, it’s OK to identify the “Trail Rated” icon for what it is—many people probably don’t know. I also think it’s OK to poke a little fun at the whole “It’s a Jeep thing…” since I personally believe it has lost a bit of its meaning and even borders on being a little silly considering how nice Jeeps have gotten since I first banged around in an old CJ. I just don’t get what there is to understand. But, hey, that’s just one man’s opinion.
Enough about me and my opinions … here’s my proposition, send me three to five Liberties going off-road (anything from mud to sand dunes to rock crawling) and I’ll post them on my blog under a post titled “I Stand Corrected.” If I’m wrong about Liberties (and I know I am), I’m more than glad to admit it.

Take care and enjoy your Jeep,

Matt
