Anyone elses stock tires wear down very quickly?

I have 20,000 on my 2009 KK and my stock tires have 1/8" of tread left.

Mind you i drive in new york city 5 days a week but when i tell my friends i need new tires already they cant believe it...

I am going to wait until the cold season to get the nice new tires though. The stock tires gave me a few scares last winter... they dont grip the road for doo doo ice or not.

i put 80,000 on my stockers. are your's the wranglers? i also have that 80,000 on my 2008 Liberty so i drive A LOT!!! mostly highway tho.

On my 2008 KK with stock Wranglers, I only got about 25k out of them.
Went to Sam's Club and got some decent man tires for around $600 installed.

The OEM's seem to be very soft and therefore wear faster. They seem more like a car tire.

i have 33,000 on mine and mine are pretty much bald... shopping around now for new ones.

I got 30K out of the factory Goodyears and I'm at 25K on a set of Michelin LTX. Will probably have to buy 4 tires before the snow flies here in PA, but that gives time to put another 2-3K on the Michs. Probably should go with a harder compound. They're using a lot more oil and chip on the roads here now, and it sure is noisy, so I'd imagine it's more abrasive also.

my good years on my sunfire lasted 15k so dont feel bad. and only 25 on the ltx, mine on my truck are ltx a/t s and i have 130000k in them now. and im going to save them for next summer to finnish the tread next year

Just turned 35K on my 08 KK and I'll need tires this year. I'll probably get about 40k before they're dangerous.

The Michelin LTX M2S appear to be a harder tire. Anyone got experiance with them? "Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement..."

OEM tires are generally softer,even the big name brand models(GoodYear MT/R's is one),and do not last and generally are not very good in any weather or terrian.I've replaced all makes/models of OE tires on many vehicles(not just Jeep) and they generally get from 8000miles-40,000miles before they need replacement,Michelins are the fastest wearing from what I have seen.Your alignment has alot to do with tire longevity,just because they are not wearing funny does not mean the alignment is out and wearing the tires faster then normal and yes no alignment is "in" evern right from the factory.

Oh and a harder rubber equals less traction in the winter and wet weather as the rubber will not flex like it should when cold.

mine don't look too bad about 26k on them if they were still on the truck i bet i could get 36 or more.

I got about 20k from my Wranglers, getting a set of LTX MS2 this week. Thought long and hard about the LTX AT2, but went with the MS2 because of first hand experience on previous vehicles with the original LTX MS.........
