I´ve heard there is a recall on the ball joints, but is it the upper or lower?
My upper joints is a little loose...

Can I use the recall even if it is lifted?
And how do i find out if the recall is already done?

Lowers are under recall, the uppers are for some KJ's(about 40,000 only,'02 and some '03's here in the US only).Take your VIN to a dealer to have them run it or try on Jeeps website.

IIRC, 2002-2006's had lowers recalled. 2002-2003's in "salt belt states only" had uppers recalled. If they are loose, don't wait to replace them. Or this will happen....

passed a jeep liberty the other day, looked to be a 2004-2005 pulled over to the curb but still in the road with the front drivers side wheel missing....drove at least 10 houses down and theres the wheel on someones front porch with the home owner standing there wondering what the :furious: is going on, i have an oil change, tire rotation and 64 point inspection at the dealers on thursday and am gonna be finding out about this.

p.s the woman that was driving the liberty looked pretty shook up but was o.k

So... The upper balljoint is not covered by a recall. The price for original spare part is 2000 kr/322 usd...
And that´s only for one side.

Where to buy the stronger/better control arm?

Or shall I go for SFA? Cost for that, and where to buy? But the shipping price to Sweden is probably not fun...
Do a SFA kit make some lift in it self?

I had this taken care of when the recall first came out. I felt no differnce other than I was more confident in the newer parts.

In Ontario Canada, 2002 Liberty Renegade.

I had a recall on the upper ball joints many years ago (03/04?), upper control arms were replaced by the dealership.

I had a recall on the lower ball joints 3-4 years ago (06/07?), dealer replaced.

I then wore out another set of UCA ball joints and replaced the UCA's with stock myself (06/07).

Then last year I found one of the UCA ball joints was shot again, this time I replaced the UCAs with JBA's UCAs, love them.

Then a few months back I received another recall notice for the UCA ball joints, but since I have the issue covered with the JBA's I won't be having the recall work done.

So in total I have had 2 recalls for the UCA ball joints, and 1 for the LCA ball joints.

I had upper ball joint separation a few weeks ago (On my Liberty). Fortunately I was turning around and not going down the highway.

Is it really necessary to replace the lower ball joints?

No, but after I entered my VIN number on the Jeep website this recall message showed up.
