Best AT Tire for a DD

I bought the General Grabber AT2 a year ago put about 10k on them and they still look brand new. I just lifted mine so the 235 70 16 GG AT2 are no good to me. I have tem listed in the for sale section for 300$ there are pics in the posting.

the tires did great for me I probably do 90% street driving and 10% offroad and if you rotate and keep them inflated properly I would imagine they would last a long time.

I only have experience with the Revos. The traction is fairly good in all surfaces that I've tried (roads, rain, snow, dirt, light mud). Treadwear at the ourside edges is a little fast, but I think that's due to the alignment setup and driving more than the tire itself. I'll give it a "probably would buy again".

I have had the Hercules Terra Trac AT for a while. I got them before winter Cause my stock silent armors were worn down and not doing well in rain. I wanted a good tire that would hanlde anything well. They do ride nice and smooth, are quiet enough on the highway, did great in all the snow that got dumped here and I did some off roading with them too.

Since buying them I have seen them on several Wranglers and Grand Cherokees around here. They come in outline white letter or black side wall

If you want a tire that wears well for not alot of money this is a great choice. Little mild for my taste but an awesome tire nun the less

I am glad someone agrees with me. they are a simular tread pattern to the Revo's and not too Different from the Hancook DyanaPro ATM. THey are priced much less than the Revo's I liked at firestone too. The Revo's were like $720 ish out the door for a set of 4, the Terra Trac's were over $200 less and if I remember had the same or better tread wear rating, so with proper alignment and rotation they should last as long or longer.

I was down to 2 choices what I got and a Cooper tire. the coopers were a 15 bucks cheaper then when a mail in rebate was factored in but the tire shop said most customers liked the Terra Trac better. So I took those figuring the rebate was a hassle any how.

personally from what i've heard from my uncle who it the warrenty adjuster for discount tire. the hankooks are not what the are cracked up to be. 2nd hand info. I like the teratracs if you want this type of tire.

I used mine in snow, deep snow slush wet roads. Off road I went to Raush Crek off road park with a local jeep shop's group. Being stock and my first time I stayed on easier trails. except for getting high centered once I never got stuck off road with the Terra tracs.

I have the Revos and they work great dry, wet, icy, snowy. BUT, they are half worn (about 30K) and have gotten to the noise point there they gotta go. They always were a bit more on noise that the OEM Goodyears stuff but not matter how much rotating and attention I pay to them, the noise is driving them off the Renegade. After reading here and on TR I am going Destination ATs.

My only complaint is the road noise. They are LOUD. The more they wear, the louder they get too. In fact, they are equally as loud as ANY mud terrain tire I've ever run. For this reason I probably will never buy the AT2s again.

But yes, as far as performance and value you can't beat them.

Yeah.. Them being loud as they wear is the only issue.. Eh.. I don't care...

i know you already bought yours... but thought i'd mention it anyways for anyone else looking here....
I got my destination A/Ts put on today (255-70-16) so far i LOVE THEM!!! had them on the cherokee 3-4 years ago, which is now gone... and loved them on their too. they wore great, low noise (for an AT tire anyways) and traction was very good overall in rain & snow.

I have had my BFG TAKO's for over 10k and I have to say Im thoroughly impressed. Worked very very well in the blizzards we had as well as the light mud and crap I see rarely. Also made the jeep ride and handle alot better (alot less body rolling). Ill probably stick with these tires next time around (would like some E rated tires next time), but you never know for sure.

As far as hankook tires I had a set for like 8k (general all season like the SRA) and wow they were the worst tires I have ever used on a vehicle EVER. Now Im sure their ATs and MTs might work out differently, but these onse were borderline scary to drive on. Just my $.02.

Destinations ATs are a great tire for a DD if you only have paved streets, like you said quiet, wear great and great overall really , like them way better than the BFG ATs I ran for a while.
