First time ive heard/ seen something like this. Would this fit a KJ? What exactly does this do to help repair the axle to get you out of the woods and into the shop

if the axle were to break it could just slide right out if you were to keep trying to move it. with this bar it holds the axle in by strapping the tire in. if you look closely the part that contacts the tire will actually rotate so that wheel is still turnable.

If you have rear disc brakes the caliber will hold the axle in although it would not be safe to drive a long distance. If you have rear drums on an 8.25 or D35 then the axle would come out.

If your axle breaks those 2 little bolts holding the caliper on will break pretty fast and there goes the axle and your brakes. But breaking a c-clip in a 8.25 is pretty rare until you get past 33" tires and some hard wheeling.
