Drained t case and looks like 2 came out but put 2 back in and it was not coming out of the fill hole. I thought you filled the t case like the diffs and fill it til it comes out? Do I need more or is it good?

how far down is it. i dont think crysler fills it till it runs out a eco thing no oil on the ground type thing but it is close to the top of the threads like stick your finder in to the first knuckle and bend your finger you should hit oil but i would just fill till its at the bottem of the threads

ok i read in the service manual last night that it was those measurements you gave me digger but i also found another section that said fill it to the bottom of the fill hole. i figured maybe the bottles i had were a little short or something so i went ahead and bought another bottle would use a small portion and eveything would be kosher. well it took another entire quart without filling to the bottom of the fill whole and is sitting at 3 quarts now. havent driven it yet in case its overfilled but dont want to drain it out then end up not having enough.

I think the problem is the metric measurements :furious: , and that those who learned metric(not me) didn't learn that
1 cup is 8 oz
1 pint is 16 oz
1 quart is 32 oz
2 cups = 1 pint
2 pints = 1 quart
4 quarts =1 gallon.
I have to try and convert every measurement into something I can understand.
I'm still not sure that my diffs have the correct amount of oil. I filled the front till it leaked out the filler hole. The rear I was able to see and stop just below the hole. I read that the front would take more and the rear less than what I used.

Well the dealership told me my front & rear diffs and transfer case are dirty. Hmm wonder if it was that 30" deep steams I drove thru or all that mud and that got ALL over the place. Both my horns don't work now.....

They want $190 for each diff and then $170 for the transfer case is that a normal price? where else can I go?

 Holy cow.

You could flush everything 3 times for that price. Do it yourself Ed. The process is very simple and can be done in a few hours. PM me if you want instructions. But for now, bed :CAMPING:

$550 to change oil in diffs and t case?!?!?! RIPOFF!!! If you're willing to spend a couple of hours under your jeep and have basic tools (3/8" socket and extension, flat head screwdriver, drain pan, rtv sealant, and proper gear oil) you can do it in your driveway. There are write ups in the tech section for the diffs and t case. I might suggest a transfer pump that screws into the bottle for the t case. (5.99, kragen)

Hey dirtykk, what ever came out of this?

I have the same issue... currently changing all of the fluids in my wifes KK and am at just about 3 quarts in the t-case. I too expected to have some fluid run out of the fill hole.

Debating whether I should drain and refill with the spec'd (about 2 quarts) amount or what.

Edit: when in doubt, i always go by the specs... so i used my fluid evacuator to pull the good fluid out, drained the residual, and put the specified amount back in.
