So, in the radiator post I was saying how I was swapping out my rad again. Well this time I get the old one out...did that last night. Today I start to put the new one in and I hit a plug with the corner. The plug knocks off some plastic and the locking clip on this plug. I am messaging Tom to find out what sensor it could be and low and behold...the air bag sensor. :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
ok.... :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious: .... :5SHOTS: :5SHOTS: :5SHOTS:
Have I ever mentioned on here how I hate airbags?
So...how do I repair the clip? The actual sensor is ok. The plug is ok...the only thing that is not ok is the locking part of the clip so when you plug it in, it pops out beyond easily.
Tom STOP LAUGHING!
So...is that sensor ok...will the flipping airbag explode in my face first time I turn it on...Yes it is funny....only because well...it is not you! LOL. Seriously, anyone have any ideas how to repair this?

Here is the sensor in question. Why the hell is it canted out into the radiator? I mean serious wtf!

This part I have no idea where it came from. Maybe that sensor. It popped onto the floor when I was pulling out the rad.

the long section of that piece you "found" covers the bolt head and surface of the sensor

pretty sure new sensors come with a new clip, it looks like it snatched the red clip off of the plug and popped the cover at the same time

getting the plug to stay plugged in, even if it's just two zip ties should be pretty easy

check on top of the motor etc for the rest of the clip

fairly positive that it has a red clip and not a molded black clip as part of the plug

I took off the sensor for now...although in hind sight I probably should have zip tied it on, lol. The sensor is intact, it is just the red clip that broke. I got the front all back together and will work on the sensor tomorrow probably or later tonight. Time for a few drinks.
Oh and when I drive the jeep it chimes once and the airbag light stays on. Not sure...if it will cause any issues so may leave it home tonight and use wifes Rav for dinner run. What a day.

Update, I reinstalled the sensor and the airbag light popped on again. I zip tied the hell out of it and the light went away...I made a quick 2 mile run to pick up some lunch and the light came back on. As long as it does not deploy the bag I am good with it...at least until smog time, lol. What a PITA. I am about a pubic hair away form pulling the sensors and the fuse for the light, lol. SHHHH I never said that. :jester:

There is no fuse for the airbag light. With the airbag light on the airbags will not deploy, might want to fix it because if your in a bad wreck where someone was badly hurt or killed they will download the SRS control module info and it will tell on you that the airbag system was non-functional and bye-bye insurance coverage and hello jail time.
