Ok guys...

I spent all day Thursday changing suspension, oil, plugs, air filter & ignition coils (just because of the mileage). Took a test drive after all is said & done with no issues.

The next morning I was almost at the end of my neighborhood when I took my foot off the gas & the Jeep kept going at the same speed (no acceleration). Popped it into neutral & eventually had to just shut it down in the middle of the street (thankfully no traffic) because it would not slow down. I popped the hood and the only thing i could find wrong was a 1in vacuum line cracked right in half. I was able to duct tape it together & went to Autozone to get another piece. I will add a pic later, but this piece looks like it connects to some type of fuel line (at least it has fuel written on it) and then into the throttle body.

Sorry guys, I'm not very mechanically inclined so I'm doing the best I can to describe this. I guess the only question I have is whether this could potentially be the cause of my throttle sticking? If not, then what else should I be looking at?

I haven't had a repeat since replacing that line, but my roommate seems to think there is something else wrong. Anybody else have any issues similar to this?

Thanks for the help...

sounds like one of the EGR lines, probably the line that goes to the fuel vapor canister

in any case, yes this could have caused the symptom you experienced, not so much an acceleration, but a higher than normal idle

your solution during the symptom and the solution repair both duct tape and getting the right stuff to officially repair it was top notch

you're more mechanically inclined than you give yourself credit for

basically, there are certain lines, vac and otherwise that will allow the TB to draw air or have the incorrect pressures to get correct readings and based on fuel air mixtures and timing the engine will increase the fuel to keep the mixture within bounds, or will not cease fuel beyond certain idle minimals that cause the vehicle to not naturally slow down as expected

It definitely shouldn't be a liquid fuel line, could be part of the evap system which is fuel vapor, either way, with any hose broke or removed from the throttle body, you open up a huge vacuum leak. Vacuum leaks will often cause elevated rpms. I would say the hose was definitely at fault. But that doesn't mean I would forget about it, I'd definitely be careful until I drove it a while just to ensure that it was the problem.

I think you should have said EVAP lines as the 3.7 in a KJ does not have a EGR.

typo due to habit
pretty sure it was of little difference in terms of answering the OP's question

Thanks for the responses...

I will be keeping an eye on it, but I feel better knowing that this issue has been nipped in the butt. I would like to try to avoid another  as my Jeep goes rolling to the next intersection.
