What is available on the store shelves today is a Bosch Glow plug #80041 made of an alloy called "Inconel 601".

This alloy is described as a "nickel-chromium alloy with an addition of aluminum with high mechanical properties at elevated temperatures for outstanding resistance to oxidation and other forms of high temperature corrosion."

http://www.hightempmetals.com/techdata/ ... 01data.php

I have searched the web and I can't find the specifications of the original glow plug used in our vehicles at birth.

I would like to know if this alloy is an update to the original glow plug?

Could this be a revised improvement to its life expectancy?

Does anyone know if this new alloy is a revision to the original glow plug design, has this alloy always been used?

I know they use this alloy in gas turbine components, so if it works there it should work at the lower temperatures (and less harsh conditions) in our engines.

I thought that the 80041 was the Bosch equivalent to the Jeep number. The tip being ceramic and the casing Iconel.

Jeep=
7 volt
M10x1.0
tip reach - 26mm
total length - 130mm
