while I've not towed a heavy load with the CRD..but have moved my boat around the yard with it..the short wheelbase is great in tight places.

I do have some comments and questions..

for those to do tow heavy..
are the trailers tandem axle..are you running 5-10% or 10-15%..from all I've read 5-10 is all that's needed for tandem. 10-15% is better for single axle..

WDH - I won't run one..I tow 7k+ with my Ram 1500 and 2500..no problems..the trailer has brakes( A MUST ). tongue weight is around 7% might even be less..NO sway and no problems stopping.. WDH hitches twist the hitch to transfer the load to the front wheels. if you ran 7K with a single axle this might be a good idea..good luck finding tires

for brakes..I first choice would be electric. then maybe electric over hydraulic(I've never used this), then surge(what's on my boat trailer now). Many states require brakes over 1500LBS..

tire on the Jeep..run E range tires at 70psi..no problems...other than getting the tire place to inflate them correctly.
