Well Im at the point of doing research for my lift (so tired of the crappy sag'd spring ride and height). Looking at the frankenlift I see they use OME shocks all around and the price for the kit assembled (tons of convenience for me as I dont have a spring compressor) is just over $1000. Not bad for everything minus the JBA UCAs and possibly new HD CVs. My question is how do the OME shocks compare to the new racho replacement bilstiens? I dont wheel much but I do rely on my jeep for everything and I want the most reliable, capable and heaviest duty setup I can afford. I know I could save a few pennies by purchasing seperate, but the convenience of the Frankenlift set is very alluring, but if the bilstiens blow the OMEs away Ill just have to purchase a spring compressor and eat the cost.

Having tried both on mine for a short time
they ride about the same
so either would work

I still hope to find that last pair of Rancho RSX's though .....

How about durability? off road/heavy duty use? Maybe Ill be lucky enough to get some ranchos post christmas. If they were still offered (dont know why they ever stopped making them) this thread wouldnt exist. Thanks again for the response as it makes my decision a bit easier.

Bilstein has always produced a pretty good shock, and I know several who have been using the OMEs for 50-70,000 miles

Why did Rancho discontinue the RSX shocks?
I like mine (front and back) and installed them 3 years back.

If you driveway install the Frankenlift II you are most likely going to need a spring compressor anyway as you have to compress the spring to get the fork back in. Spring compressors are fairly inexpensive (40-50 bucks).

Works good, rides like stock, gives the lift they say it is supposed to give.

No spring compressors are needed to install a Frankenlift
simpler ways to do it and much faster

Hey My Frankenlift w JBA 4.5 UCAs went in Tuesday- And I am very happy- just came back from getting an alignment. I went from 17.5 in front and I think 18.5 in rear to 22 all around- (pretty sure measured quick on uneven ground) I'm really impressed with the quality of the ride! Am totally loving it. My tires look really tiny and I'm way out of money for now. Will be putting skids on next week. Thanks everybody for all the help. :JEEPIN:
