I was sitting at 5 Guys enjoying my tasty burger and admiring my KK from inside the store when a Honda Accord rolled up and parked next to it. All a sudden the driver door comes flying open and nails my Jeep. First thing I thought of was WTF! Until my brain processed what I had happened, then I was laughing inside. My rock sliders stuck out just enough to catch the Accord door before putting a nice crease in my door panel. The dumb woman got out and was all nervous looking til she realized that nothing happened to my vehicle but messed up hers, then she was a little disgusted. She walked off into a near by store. As I was leaving I checked it out, sure enough nothing wrong with mine but her door and quite a little crease on the seam of her door. Serves her right, maybe next time she'll more considerate.

Almost a sucky situation. When I've seen someone do that, I call them out. In your situation, I would've potentially been :ROTFL: as sometimes people do get immediate ramifications for how they act. Glad your KK was ok.

It was absolutely pouring the rain and I was in line at a place to eat with my wife. A woman in a Volvo drove into the parking lot, one that was mostly empty, and decideds to back into the space beside mine when there were may in front of the door open. She backed extremely close and I'm still unsire how she even got out of the car, but when she opened the door it touched my door. She let it sit on my door. Basically, it was the only way to get out.

She got out, shut the door and walked it. I was at the back of the line. I was staring her down when she walked in and she said something like, "Man, it is really pouring out there."

I said, "Did you just hit my door with your door."

I could tell her heart sank and she got that look on her face of being caught.

She admitted to it.

I told her that I was going to check my door and if there was damage, I wanted he info. She said OK. Lucky for her it didn't do anything. It was really hard to tell in the rain, but I knew as long as there wasn't a dent, I could fix any marks easily since I am a detailer.

I was so mad.

People are so self centered. It makes me so mad.

If I ever see anyone hit my door again, I will confront them.

never caught anyone, so not sure how i'd react. guess i'd try to keep my cool and get their info if something got damaged...

however, i went to eat with my dad a few years ago, and when he pulled into a mostly full parking lot, he found a spot next to a car that parked over the line. being the smartass that he was, he pulled right into the middle of his spot, which ended up being very close to the other car though. when we got out from dinner, every panel on that side of my dads car had been punched/kicked in, with a note slid through the window that said something like "thanks for parking so close ( * )"

i wish we woulda wrote down the license plate # before dinner, but we didn't. thankfully it was his company car and didn't cost him anything to get fixed. but i'm pretty sure he's never done that again, at least not with his personal car!

I love my sliders they have saved my jeep twice that i know of taking paint off the persons car the first time. The second time i got to watch as a guy and his girl firend had a verbal fight. Which ended up with him running into the parking lot swing his door open on his candy paint 300C on 22's slamming into my sliders and then cussing. By this point i was walking out side just as he went to kick my jeep so i yelled don't you dare. He looked up and said FU white boy got in his car and screamed out of the parking lot. Thank you so much Skink Super Sliders.

one day at school it was REALLY windy, i parked in the parking lot and noticed kids getting out of their cars and not holding their doors. they flung open and smashed other peoples mirrors. One kid had the guts to move and re park. Luckily for me, i wrote down his plate and gave it to the security guard at school in case the person filed something. As for me, In my Range Rover at the time, someone parked close to me and there door hit mine pretty hard, again, the rock sliders took the damage, but they had an suv also, so my door also got dinged :/

A couple o years ago, I was working a tent sale for an account in Billings, MT. One of the employees just bought a new (to him) BMW which was parked right out front of the store.

We all saw a white van pull up next to his BMW, the door swing wide and "pow"... hit his car. The woman got out and walked into the Albertsons like nothing happened. The employee went out to inspect the damage and sure enough, there was white paint on his passenger door handle. He waited for the woman to return to confront her about the matter.

When she did return he said, "hey, I saw you hit my car... look... here's the paint from your van." Now 98% of human response will usually fall into two categories:
A - Apologetic and acceptance of responsibility
B - Denial and eff you-ence

This lady went with "C" in her response to the charge: "Listen euro-trash... you don't even belong here... you people took this land from us!"

My wife was in our kids school parking lot with our Caravan, and when she opened her door, the wind caught it and it slammed into our kids Kindergarten teacher's black Ford F-150.
It left a nice scratch. So my wife calls, very upset telling me what happened, and asking if she should tell the teacher about what happened or just keep quiet (she wanted to tell the truth). So I told her to tell the truth and fess up, cause it really gets under my skin when people do stuff to my car without saying anything.

So she told her and she checked it out, laughed it off and said no worries, but thanks for telling her. We made sure she knew if she changed her mind and wanted it fixed we would cough up the dough.

I always say it pays to tell the truth, and it'll be less painfull than being dishonest.

My 2 cents.

If I saw them do it, confront them as soon as possible. Take pictures with the cell phone camera of the damage, their door, and view of their vehicle and yours in same picture and collect their info. Take a pic of them after you ask them to lean over and look at the damage.

If I find one (but a-hole is not around and I didn't witness) and can visibly see they hit my door (even with the Super Skinks - those steroid induced pickups), I have no problem of swinging my door open and hitting their vehicle, by accident, of course.

One of the few times someone has damaged one of my vehicles while I was around:

I was putting air in one of my tires on my trans-am, guy in a pickup truck backed into the drivers door and creased it about 3 inches deep

had I been on the drivers side of the car putting air in the tires he probably would have crushed my head into the fender

the guy was very sorry, and apologetic, obviously he didn't mean to and he offered to call the HWP (back during the bag cell phone days)

I told him not to worry about it and go go on his way, mostly because I was really fighting off a violent temper and just wanted the source to go away

I've always had a bad temper when stuff like that happens, particularly with car doors, I've never, ever, inadvertently damaged someones vehicle in a parking lot or otherwise outside of a car accident that was unavoidable or necessary for the safety of pedestrians

So, I don't have a lot of compassion when it comes to people who their attitude or excuse is "ugh.. SORRY.. i wasn't THINKING.." which I've heard a few times more than I care to discuss

accidents do happen, but a huge majority of them are avoidable and I just don't have patience for people who are too selfish and lazy to take the time or effort to avoid them

A collapsible baton isn't considered a weapon. Spray then give them a reminder. Haha, just kidding.

Only time I ever caught anyone damage my car was at the supermarket close to my old neighborhood. this woman with a young child was leaving ahead of me with a cart over filled with stuff and the child was pitching a huge fit to push it to the car. the kid couldn't even see over the cart and the parking lot was down grade some frome the store. she let him a do it any way. as I was getting the ice i paid for from the freezer in front of the store before going to my car, a Subaru Legacy at the time, I hear a the crash of a cart. The kid lost hold if it and it crashed in to the right rear quarter panel putting a nice crease in it.

I confronted the woman about it she said she was sorry and gave me her info insurance address and phone number so I thought it was going to be ok just file a claim. nope her insurance coverage had lapsed. so I call and talk to her about it she offers to pay.. I get an estimate and take it too her house. I get a story about how she don't know when she can fix it because her husband left and she is on unemployment and such. I wanted to be nice but I told her she should think about what she allows her kid to do so she don't mess up other cars and that she should not offer to pay up if she can't or never plans to do so. I left and dropped the whole thing and lived with the dent.
