Hello,

I few hours ago, I was driving in the neighbourhoods and suddenly the engine died on me. No check engine light or anything. I pulled it on the side of the road and tried starting it and it cranks forever but do not start at all. It is full of gas. I towed it to the dealer... Now I’m waiting and I’m afraid… there’s only 12k miles on it and it’s a 2009. What could it be ? :?

Thanks

Yes it is still on warranty. The towing was included too. I still hope it's only the fuel pump that is stuck or something like that. I should always keep a hammer on my trunk.

The dealership called and said the fuel pump is bad. It is so rare that they do not keep it in stock. It will take 4-5 days to ship...

I got a call from dealer today that my jeep was ready. They told me that they changed the fuel pump but it wasn't the problem but a bad wire. So got there and took the jeep and asking more information about why and they told me that the bad wire was under front seats and it was completely changed.

At home, I look at the repair receipt and it is written that there was many bad ABS wires flooding in the water and that they were totally rotten. I've never observed any water leak on the floor. Sure it's gonna happen again, since the problem is not really repaired.

I checked for TSB but there isn't any that applies to the 2009 models. And I never saw any thread about that in this forum.

I'm gonna call them back again tomorrow...

ive had my interior full of water and dont have rotten wiring. i work on aircraft that are 40+ years old and they dont have rotten wiring. if anything the plastic around the conductor itself will get hard and brittle over time, not rotten. i find it weird that they didnt have a fuel pump to replace on hand but they could do a wiring job without any troubles. i think i would take your jeep to another dealership for now on. :2cents:

Rotting wires, not really possible. It is copper and copper does not Rot.

Wood can rot and cloth can rot, just not copper.

Oh well... Maybe the tech is just being lazy
