Not exactly on topic, but just wondered if it would be a good idea to get rid of the EGR on the 3.7 gasser as done on CRD?
Does the EGR on the 3.7 cause any problems like the CRD?
Unlike the diesel which detonates (that is the knock we all hear) on every power stroke. You don't want the Gasser to detonate but start the burning with the spark plug. On the Gasser the EGR has been engineered to help prevent detonation in addition to the EPA/CARB NOX crap. Remove the EGR from your gasser, you risk putting holes in your pistons or destroying the rings or ring lands. also it lets you run a higher compression ration in a gasser with out having to run premium fuel.
In my opinion, let some idiot do the destructive testing on the gassers by removing the EGR.
For Diesels EGR is
VERY STUPID and DESTRUCTIVE.If you want to do something for your gasser, look into plasma ignition, it burns all the fuel and can create more power, plus it is totally legal and reduces emissions. EPA/CARB has no miss givings with anyone having Photon Torpedoes (effectively what Plasma Ignition is) firing away inside the gasser combustion chambers.
