Hi all,
I'm trying to wire my door speakers and not keen on drilling (Don't have the right tools). I talked to an audio install guy and he mentioned that they pull out the white plastic connector in the door frame and drill through that. I have gotten the driver side front out a bit (I think I broke the tabs so it won't fit properly again). My concern is I don't know how far I can pull it out without pulling connections or if there is a quick disconnect and on which side. Has anyone tried this and able to help me out. Thanks

Don't bother, it's much more trouble than it's worth. The factory speaker wiring is sufficient for most reasonably amplified aftermarket systems. I have gone through the headaches of re-wiring the door speakers, and there wasn't the slightest bit of difference - and that was with 100 watts rms of clean power to each door. Remember, the stock wiring has to be good enough to handle the factory amplified system, so it's more than good enough for most people.

If your concern is that you are going to be using a component set, and need to run two sets of wires (one for mid and one for tweet), just do what I did and mount the crossover itself in the door panel and then you will only need to run wires within the door itself, and not through the door jamb.

I have already run the speaker wires to the doors (inside the cabin) and wired the tweeter to the crossover. I have been debating finding the factory wires at that point (near the doors) and joining to my 16 gauge.

So I took one more stab at it and discovered that you can feed 16 gauge wire without the cover (as thin as possible) through the white wire connector. No drilling just a lot of pain, tight maneuvering, and it is a PITA...but possible. 1 door down, 3 to go.
