Due to financial problems (back injury/no health insurance) I was forced to let my Jeep go today. This is only temporary and I will have either a ZJ or an XJ before MOAB 2007. I will miss you guys (especially my fellow UN-LOSTers) and all of the advice I have been given.

What really sucks is I may get discharged from the Army for this (it will be a medical discharge). Since my medical benefits don't kick in untill I am at my next duty station...it looks like home is where I'll be.

I was skiing about a week ago and I took a bad fall. The fall herniated two discs in my back (may be linked to a prior injury). I will return!!!!

Anybody know where I can get a cheap ZJ?

You better not go anywhere Joe! I don't care what you're driving! Put some skids on the Cruiser if ya have to!

Cheap ZJ? I got a friend in ChiTown that was talking about selling his. I'll drop him a line and see if he's already moved it.

Once LOST, always LOST. Read your T-shirt man! It says LIFEtime!

Stay on the forum, I'll PM you if I hear back from my friend in ChiTown.

NO! NO! NO! Man, you've been here since I started coming years ago! Dude, I'm so sorry about your back. My dad has 2 or 3 herniated discs and has been on celebrex for years with no problems. We were outside moving 5tons of gravel with a shovel the other day. I hope everything works out for you.

So did you sell the jeep? Its never the same after you sell your first jeep. I'm a 19 year old and Ive cried over my jeep before. Ive never cried over my girlfriend. :)

Hey, man I am really sorry to hear about your accident. But you don't have to leave the forum. I always look forward to your posts. You can worry about what kind of Jeep to drive later, just get healed up and keep on posting here. James.

We may have to quarantine him to the xj or zj forum though.

darn, sorry to hear that man. These past three months have been the months from hell-it seems like everything that could go wrong has. Good luck healing up, and stick around!

Oh and you can always search www.jeepforum.com (they have a whole section just for the sale of Jeeps, unfortunately they're rebuilding their database for the next few minutes and I cannot get a direct link). About once a week a great looking ZJ pops up for sale and about 6000 times per day a nice XJ pops up so I don't think you'll have a problem finding one 8)

I object to this entire thing! I will not stand for it! I demand that you are healed and re-KJ'd at once!

...well, it was worth a shot. Don't be a stranger. I'll miss that uber rare reddish KJ in the pictures of the up north runs.

Geez!! What's the deal w/the services cutting their best soldiers?? (I'm in the same boat) Anyway, what's this about no health insurance from the army? You are an active duty member the day you go to basic, so if it happened after that, you should be covered.........tough break man, but at least you have your hands still!! Lifetime LOST! You know you're gonna buy another, so don't wait till then to post...........Good luck and my prayers are w/ya!

Joe,
So sorry to hear about your back man. It stinks that you had to oust the KJ. I hope you stick around. Once your LOST, you can never be found. I really look forward to seeing more posts from you on whatever, whether it's building a new rig for MOAB, or just answering simple questions, your knowledge is always welcome here. Here's hoping you heal up quick and are back off the roads in no time. Now GET BETTER!!! THAT'S AN ORDER (haha, from a 17 year old, yeah right....)

Well folks...I turned the Jeep over to the new owner (a friend of a friend) today... Thats it for the bad news. X-rays are in and I don't have any herniated discs! I probably should have posted that when I found out. I still need the cash for chiropractor (sp?) bills in the near future... My back is just out of alignment.

I already had a waiver for it the first time it happened (just before I enlisted) so I may be able to stay in (if my recruiter and I have our way).

I look forward to seeing you all at MOAB 2007!!!!

Well I am in a weird grey area of service few folks end up in. I enlisted as a reservist (save your weekend warrior comments). After high school I finished my AIT (I enlisted and went to basic my junior year). Then I went into service as a 42a (personnel admin) which happened to be a very boring desk job. I decided I wanted something more so I talked to my recruiter about going active. To do that I had to separate from my old unit. So technically I am not in the army-more like retired without benefits for the next month or two untill (or if) I get to go active and get an exciting MOS (thinking Airborne Medic or light arms repairer/gunsmith).

I thought about doing that too.........but I needed the money for other expenses, so I just stuck it out until I graduated (you can do that too, even if you enlisted Active duty Airforce!). Your situation is the "grey area" but, if you weren't handed your DD-214 to separate, you're still in. For the reservists i'm a little foggy on what their exact benefits are, but you may want to check w/your recruiter or someone else you may know (even Military.com can help you!). You have a waiver for your back, so you ARE allowed treatment (Army has it documented and must treat it if it gets worse) even if in a VA hospital or a base near you. Even if you were to seek civilian therapy (chiropractor), it should be covered. If you were handed your DD-214, which prolly isn't the case, you still have 90 days of coverage from the ETS date on the form. If you fall under "inactive reserve" however, you are still on the payroll, just not collecting a check. There's benefits as long as you have your ID (common access card or that other green one). Check it out, they may be able to reimburse or co-pay. If you need any info your recruiter "OUGHT" to be helping you.

us reservists have to pay for our tricare-i got the SGLI insurance (life insurance) but not health as I really couldn't afford TriCare coverage and I was covered under my father's policy untill January 1st of this year...I figured it would only be a lapse of a couple of months-whats the worst that could happen? This is defineately not the worst but it sucks nonetheless. I haven't had to tap into plastic yet to pay for treatment but a good chunk of my savings have disappeared (x-rays are spendy, ER visits are REALLY spendy, thank god I refused the ambulance ride!).

I go to visit my mother's chiropractor on Friday so I geuss we'll see what happens next...

Im a Navy Corpsman, I am currently attached to a reserve Infantry company. My reserve Marines get hurt all the time "off duty". What we do is submit what is called a NOE (Notice Of Eligibilty) and entitles them to full medical for I believe up to 90 days. I would check with you 1st Sgt or if you have a medical rep in your unit, to see if the Army has something simular. I hope this helps

since I am separated from my unit, I don't think their is anything they can do...my name doesn't appear on their alpha roster. Either way it's sort of a mute point because the KJ is gone and thats what mattered most to me.

Thanks for advice though!
