Hi All!! I am new here and need help already... My Wife has an 05 Liberty Limited that she is TOTALLY in love with! Now the probs... the heated leather seats over heat and burn her bottom......I have told her to stop using them since she said they are "smelling" funny... Now this ONLY happens on the driver side...pass side works fine... I switched the switches around but no difference..... Also at 110K miles I replaced the trans filter and fluid, while this cured the sluggish trans I now have a bad leak.... It looks like it is between the engine and bellhousing. I had to add fluid today since the dipstick was dry (ouch)!!! could I be lucky and it only be the dipstick tube leaking or am I looking at pulling the trans and replacing a seal???

Anyhow! thanks for listening and any ideas would be GREAT!!!

thanks! and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I'll help as far as the heated seats go. Stop using it unless she wants more than a warm bottom. Overheating would have nothing to do with the switches. the heating element is going bad in the seat. They are not pretty when they burn out. I would hope that the fuse would kick before it got hot enough to start a fire but I don't know that I would chance it. Either replace the element in the seat or if it's easier for you, replace the seat. If you want to keep your wife from using it in the meantime, pull the fuse or just disconnect that seat from the switch. As far as you other problem, it would be hard to say without seeing it.
