Changed my muffler to a straight through cherry bomb glass pack. When I took it for a test drive a CEL showed up. Lasted through a couple of cycles and went away. Does changing the muffler cause the light to come on or should I be looking at something else?

a couple of folks are running with no mufflers at all - and they haven't mentioned CELs
try to read the code.

(I switched to Magna flow - no CEL)

Yup, what ATX said. No O2 sensors on diesels, so run whatever you like as an exhaust.

I have a new turbo-back setup on mine, Flowmaster muffler so it sounds great with zero backpressure. Try to get that code read at AutoZone, they will do it for free. The code is stored now if the light is off, but it still needs to be known what happened. Let us know what it is, and we can help you solve it.

On the '05 model that I bought brand new, I got a CEL immediately after removing the muffler. Don't remember what the code was for.

Had the codes checked at Autozone. Looks like I need to clean the MAF. Doesn't appear to be a connection with the muffler.
