Jeep Pick up truck??!

So looks like we may actually see something along the lines of the Gladiator in production soon...I for one will be very interested.... :twisted:

Yeah a Diesel would be perfect (but unlikely :cry:

). I would even settle for the Pentastar V6...IF it's more Wrangler Rubicon like (SA front, fully locked etc)...

I would see a niche for this vehicle. If the Canyon/colorado from GM and the Dakota from Chrysler goes away in couple years like people are saying, there will be a want for a small pickup like vehicle...this just may fit that bill
I actually do kind of like it, but would be unpractical for me...wife and 2 kids won't all fit into it.

I would buy that Dodge Dakota in Jeep sheet metal and put an RTT over the bed and rock it as a cool expo vehicle.

As far as i'm aware, the Brute kits are not available for the JK's. I Believe they're only for the TJ's.

According to Allpar report on what Marchionne stated the Dakota was to be replaced with a Fiat based, El Camino styled lifestyle vehicle...of course I can't find that article on Allpar right now to link it.

If it comes out it will most likely have a 4 door option - thats one of the things that killed the MJ in the early 90's, only a single cab, when extended cabs and 4 doors were all the rage.

There's no way you can only sell single cab pickups in todays market and hope to stay afloat with it, hell I'm surprised ford never tried to bring over the 4 door ranger from mexico.

Somewhere in the mix is the upcoming one-ton Dodge truck for Europe. Engineer Bob Sheaves pointed out that European standards are different for trucks, and that a one-ton truck in the E.U. would be rated lower in the U.S. This model could be the upcoming Dakota, an offshoot of the Ram 1500, the Wrangler pickup, or possibly even the Ram 50 replacement."

Close, but that is actually and older report from Sergio...the one I was referring to was tied in with a discussion about killing one of the minivans...Grand Caravan or T&C, not both. In that same article it also discussed the Fiat based Dakota and had a "picture" included.
