I recently purchased an 06' liberty limited 4x4 for my daughter... it has 17" rims and I want to do something with this jeep... I have read that 16" is the way to go but if I was going to use OEM 17" (non-chrome) rims.... what lift kit and which tire size should i use to get the most aggressive and highest stance while still maintaining good off road capabilities. I would like to keep mostly stock components, willing to shell around $1400.

Thanks in advance.

Howdy - Welcome to LOST
(and a lot of the lift guides will recommend an OME lift - I think is a great combination of taller and a better ride)

You could do a nice lift and buy nice tires for your daughter's KJ with the $1400 limit. Just read the lift threads.

Well, looking into it it seems these 17" tires really put a limitation on a lot of things.... Trying to figure if I can get away with a wider 255/65/17 with a 2.5" lift.... I can get the 255's for around $850 for 5 installed locally... the Yoka Geolanders.... Other than that the OME sounds like the best kit to buy.

i got my toyo at tires/mount/balance/valve stems/everything for like $600 or something. they are a 245/75/16. you do not want a big tire on there or you'll run into problems.

If I had 17 inch wheels I'd throw them out the door,
at least 16s you have more chices I think in sizes and types of tires

i agree. get rid of the 17's and go with 16's. a friend of mine who had 17's on his KJ like you decided to go with 16's and never regreted it.

If you go with the 16's you might try to find a set of the rubicon Moab wheels, they're suppsed to be forged rims for better off road durability. Just a thought, and I second the OME lift, when I scrape together the cash that's the way I'm going.........
