Remove the outside fresh air aupply to the air box...better mileage with warm under the hood air (especially in the winter)

Actually the KK is a tad bit more aero than the KJ...but not much better

Looking at the body style of the KJ and the KK, the KJ looks to me like it would be more aerodynamic. The KJ is more rounded on the edges. But then wind tunnel tests could show the KK to be more aerodynamic. In almost all the reviews I have read on the KJ and KK is poor gas mileage and the reason is said to be the out dated engine and transmission. But it is not that far off from other SUV's with similar capabilities. There is not too many SUV's that can tow 5,000 lbs. and get better gas mileage. David

I never really understood why the reviews knocked the gas mileage either, the only other off-road capable SUV that I looked at (Xterra) had the same MPG rating. I guess if you were comparing it to the Toyota Highlander then it would fall short (17/21) but it also has a 5-speed automatic transmission.

Ummmm excuse my butting in on this, but a colder air intake ALWAYS provides more power. Colder air = Denser air, therefore more "bang for your buck". This is a proven fact. You should also always try to refuel in the coldest part of the day. The fuel is denser, and therefore you're getting more for your money.

I purchased my 2010 Liberty 4X4 new. To say that I'm disappointed with the gas mileage is an understatement! A friend of mine and I took a road trip from Chicago (where we live) to St Pete Beach Florida. I didn't right down the exact amount of money spent on fuel but it was darn close to $500.00 round trip.
