So I'm replacing my spark plugs with NGK-V-Power-Copper Spark Plugs $2.29/ea. I thought I had to buy wires for it as well but apparently Liberties do not use wires, instead they use some kind of coil thing. That is was the guys at Autozone told me. Shows you how much I know about engines. One of the guys said Dodges and Jeeps didn't do well with Platinum plugs, instead they do better with copper ones. The guy was trying to find a certain spark plug but it wasn't in the computer. I knew he was going to try to sell me a high dollar spark plug, but I know the higher the price the better of quality.

Anyways, what do you all think; will this NGK-V-Power-Copper Spark Plugs $2.29/ea be good enough?

Thanks
:JEEPIN:

KJ uses the coil backs instead of plugs, I found this out also when I bought new plugs. I just ran generic Autolite plugs and they work fine for me.

The factory ngk copper plug is ZFR6F-11G in my 06. I always run factory plugs since that's what the ignition system was designed for, however, a lot of people on here run platinum and iridium plugs with no problem. The better plugs wont have to be changed nearly as often. But they cost more as well.

JustinP,

The ones I'm picking up tomorrow (above post), will they work okay for my 06 KJ?

Also found a set of '97 Grandcherokee wheels that I have been looking for, for a long time. The guy is wanting $100 for them 16" wheel 5x4.5 bolt pattern...I'm going to research more before I decided to buy these. If and when I do buy them, I'm painting them black and putting them on the KJ...

The 3.7s likes new plugs at least every 30,000 miles so buying more expensive is not worth it, time wise or dollar wise
mentioned below was "better plugs " would not have to be changed as often which I say is BS, no matter the price they still need changed on a regular basis
Give me a set of Autolites before the NGKs or any of the rest
Mines had 7 sets so far in it and is doing great

They should do fine as long as they are for your jeep. Correct P/N.

The platinum and iridium plugs are supposed to last longer than copper. Copper tipped plugs are soft compared to Platinum and Iridium, which means gap erosion will occur at a faster rate. Vehicles that come from the factory with platinum or iridium typically have a 80,000+ mile service schedule, which is great compared to 30K with copper. I still won't use anything thats not a OEM replacement, just figured you should know the logic I was using. And NGK plugs have always treated me well. There are plenty of manufacturers that use NGK plugs as well.

All this talk about sparks under the hood sounds dangerous.... don't know how you drive around with those things.

If I can remember correctly, the Autolites I saw were cheap so I didn't bother with them.

i use the ngk irids, never tried the vpowers on my kj that I remember.. i did cycle through about 8 different sets of plugs including the autolite plat and irids before settling on the ngk irids

when changed properly on the stock engine there's not much difference between any of them tbh, I think the 3 sets of vpowers I bought for the other cars here were about 2.25 a plug

We shall see how the Jeep does when the new plugs are installed. Hopefully this week if I can get a shop to do them. Yes I am paying someone to install them, because I do not know how to change a spark plug. Don't bother on how to tell me either, cause I won't try it. I don't want to screw something up and I shouldn't try anyways if I don't know what I'm doing either.
