Fan/Blower only working on setting 4

All,

Did some searching on this but couldn't find any info. All of a sudden the cabin fan only works on setting 4 (full blast), but not 1, 2, or 3. Anyone seen this before? Simple fuse or relay replacement?

I went through this last year..... It was a resistor behind the glove compartment, $25.00 OEM part from the dealer. I don't remember the part number but if do a search you will find it.

Consider using the Sebring replacement part instead of the Jeep one:

Wish I had known about using the Sebring one when I replaced mine.

Yup, x3. Every vehicle has one of those ceramic resistor things.

Take it and you never change again ...Well next time it's gone be the fan engine because the bearing will seize, normaly the resistor act like a fuse protection. I prefer replacing a noisy fan :wink:

I just bought the sebring version, my number one went out and that was enough to convince the wife!

Yep, picked up the Sebring one last night. Was amusing dealing w/ the parts guy:

Me: I need a blower motor resistor for an '04 Sebring

Parts guy: (types into computer) Engine?

Me: I have no idea - doesn't matter.

Parts guy: Body style?

Me: I have no idea - doesn't matter.

Parts guy: ???? (puzzled look)

Me: It's actually for my Jeep Liberty but the Chrysler part is more robust than the Jeep one. I'm pretty sure there's only one part for all of them.

Parts guy: (turns computer screen to face me)

Me: (Points to BWD part) That one please!

Sounds about like the same conversation I had with Advace Atuo guy. When he gave it too me, I pulled it out of the box and showed him they were almost indentical part. Told him the sebring one was upgraded. I think our blower actually blows stronger on each setting over the stock one.

You got the wrong part here a image Joe Romas post in another thread (The new one is on the left)

You need OEM Sebring part #5174124AA

If that comment is to me, I got the exact one in the pic with the green insulation in the back....the BWD 1040 replacement

Funny thing is I have replaced more sebring blower resistors and not one KJ resistor.

Oh and they updated all of them so the newer dealer resistor is the same for the KJ as the Sebring,but yes different part #'s.

They are not almost identical then! There is 2 older design and they are the same B/S that's why I was convince you got the wrong part Here the pic to justified my words. Good to know you got the green one! Better be safe then sorry :mrgreen:

Got news for you I change mine last summer and they offert me the same B/S, my step brother change is blower resistor for is seebring in December and he show me what they sale to him....Same crapy B/S so I give him the part number to get a exchange.

Maybe they still got some old parts in stock...
