I didnt buy an extended warranty thru the dealership because they charge outrageous prices ... So, can someone suggest a good place to buy one? My jeep is about 1000 miles out of warranty .... it has 37000. BTW, its an 03 Liberty 4x4 that is used ... Has anyone had to use their warranty?

If you plan to keep it stock, there are several companies that will sell you and extended warranty, but if you plan to do any modifications, your extended warranty will mostlikely be voided on the spot, and you will still have to pay for it.

The key is, if they do not give you at least 10 days to review the contract and terms, then you know it is no good. Also read it carefully, I was about to buy one for mine as the Jeep warranty was running out, then I read the terms, and it would be voided even if I changed the tire size.

PAY THE MONEY TO GET THE MOPAR ONE!!!!!!!! I was a service writer for a Jeep dealership and I have dealt w/ all of the major aftermarket service contract companys. They will try and screw you EVERY chance they get. Most of them use use parts whenever they can. If they say you get 5 days of rental car, thats all you get. Even if the part takes 6 days to get there. I've had situations on major repairs they send out adjustors, which can take up to 3 days or more depending on the situation. If the adjustor see's something like oversized tires, aux. lights they tend to be...well you know. You will pay more now but it is well worth it in the long run. Spend the money get a maxi-care warranty and you will be so happy when the KJ needs to go to your dealership. The real trick is finding a lift friendly dealership. In fact that was one of the reasons I got out of the car buisness. I was tired of seeing people get bent over by these companys. And when I had to tell my customers that the service contract company denied thier repair due to tires being 2 sizes over stock and you now owe the dealership $500 for the cost of tearing out the trans so the adjustor could look at it, I felt like the smallest man on earth. I NEVER had to do that with a MOPAR contract. Sorry about the rant but that's just my opinion.

I agree with 4wdParakeet, get the maxi-care from Mopar. But, there is always the chance of denial if you install mods (xtreme). I got the maxi-care. That is why I haven't lifted yet. I know my dealer isn't lift friendly. We got the maxi care on our 02 GC, it just ran out of the 3/36,000, and the lift gate lock latch screwed up. $333.00 for the replacement part  (what a rip) We had to pay a $100 deductable. AND......dang, I sure do want a lift

I went through Mopar for my extended warranty also. I highly recommend the piece of mind.

It is a crap shoot no mater where you bring your jeep for service. I just brouhgt my 05 in for a upper balljoint... lifted, front inner fneders are ripped up and bumper is split, rock rash under the frame the whole 9 yards... they never said boo, and replaced BOTH upper a-arms and fixed the CEL (blew up a spark plug!!). All I have is the basic freebie 7/70kmi that came on it.

Ask the dealer you plan on going to if they care about the modifications, and will they still cover it. They have to prove that the mods you did were DIRECT casues for the failure before they deny the warranty. And explain to them that if they will work on your moded KJ that you will buy their warranty and continue doing bussiness with them and tell all your buddies that they provide great service... make it seem worth it to them to do the work for you, and make it seem like a win-win situaition.

I have 2 extended warrenties on my KJ.. One extended one I got from the dealership.. The other is with Geico.. I noticed it when I got my insurance policy.. I decided to keep it because if for some reason the extended one from the dealership fails to cover.. Geico should take over...

Call Jeep directly. I got the extended service contract with 36 months no interest.

I do not like any extended service plans. Instead I take the money I would have spent on the plan and put it in the bank. But thats just me.
