My '04 Limited has a "flat spot" during acceleration somewhere around 40mph. Either you have to put your foot in it or take it out of overdrive. Anyone know how to fix this? Drives me crazy!

That's pretty typical :D Turning the overdrive off is easiest, since it seems to engage torque converter earlier.

I've always hated that. Im waiting on a programmer to come out to reporgram the tranny. Thats the only thing you can do is turn the o/d off until a tuner comes out.

They did that to try and save gas I would think, the lower the rpms the less gas it uses.

Pretend like you have a manual tranny and have to shift gears but instead all you are doing is thumbing the OD button.

Play, play pretend it is.... at least until they come up with a fix for it. I would rather have power than gas milage any day  Plus, it is hard to push the little button, drive and talk on the phone. Joking.

Don't forget smoke and drink coffee along with talk on the phone and push the OD button.

That and reaching around to get something the kids dropped, using the turn signal, wipers and rolling down the window....and occasionally flying the bird to some rude driver!! :-)r

Ok, I am reaching for it now...thinking I need to morph into an octopus just to drive my KJ! But seriously, sometimes that flat spot sucks when you are trying to merge into traffic and need to speed up and the KJ just doesn't respond. Thankfully, I don't have to drive in heavy traffic much.

The first thing I do is push the button when I start out everyday. Its just a habit Ive started. When I get over 55mph I turn it off. The jeep will downshift if you give it enough gas. First it will unlock the torque, then it downshifts if you keep giving it more gas.

Not to pick on Bullet, but you left one of the typical girl manuvers. Applying the make-up while driving because the light coming through the sunroof is better than the light in the bathroom

I have the same flat spot but not until I put a 31" tire on. The taller tire changes the gear ratio and makes the vehicle not as responsive.

Downshifting is not very good on an auto tranny. Causes alot of clutch wear.
