I know this is probably gonna sound odd but does anybody have an idea of how a KK would sound just running straight pipes, no muffler? Lol.

I think part way through the video they do a shot of it with straight pipes. IMO it sounds dumb.

Haha well all my friends drive V8 trucks/muscle cars and I'm stuck with the all-mighty V6. So I'm really just trying to get the deepest sound possible, sounds straight imo.

I know how you feel. My friend drives a Silverado with straight pipes. He laughs at me every time he hears my libby. I dont think youll ever get it to sound like a V8 but the super 44 muffler sounds pretty sweet.

Haha... well the KJ's with Super 44's have sounded good to me. But the KK that the guy posted earlier isn't the sound I'm lookin for.

You think they sound different from the KJs? Maybe you heard a KK with the resonator still on. I would think theyre pretty similar since its the same 3.7 engine and I dont think the stock exhausts are much different.

Haha well the one dude posted sure as hell sounded a lot weaker. It had no crackle or deepness to it imo. But yeah it still prolly had the resonator on it.

As the owner of that Magnaflow video I will say there is NO RICE in my exhaust. It sounds awesome. Nor have I ever heard a truck with a Magnaflow exhaust sound like rice.

As a side note that video was recorded with my digital camera, not exactly the best recording device on the market.

Just curious Jeepin, what "rice" Magnaflow have you heard? Have you actually heard a real Magnaflow exhaust on anything? I have yet to hear anything from Magnaflow that sounds like rice ...

I dont mean to insult you, i have heard a magnaflow, actually my friend has a 4 runner with a 4.0 v6 with the exact muffler as you... It's not the sound i like nor what i was going for. To correct my previous statement it does not sound like a Japanese vehicle but the sound produced is similar to that of what a Japanese vehicle exhaust would do IMO.

Magnafow sounds anything but ricey...in fact its a deeper rumble and growl than any Flowmaster I've heard in person..not to mention its a straight through muffler, maximizing airflow...The flowmasters are filled with "baffles" and compartments to help "generate" that sound - they have actual cutaways of the magnaflow and flowmasters side by side over at Summit Racing you can look at. I think the Flowmasters sound abit tin-ish. For comparing the $79 to $79 Magna vs. Flowmaster, the Magnaflow is a much better constructed all stainless steel muffler. You have to spend more on a Flowmaster to get what you get in the $79 Magnaflow for our libbys.

Then again, how many times have we seen this..my Flowmaster sounds better than your Magnaflow, and my Magnaflow sounds better than your Flowmaster...LOL, the thing is, either could easily sound very different on any given KJ based on how their engine is running already- No?? One man's rice-burner is another man's rumble! LMAO

I don't doubt the Flowmaster sounds good. I've heard Flowmasters on various cars/trucks and they do sound nice. I actually put dual Flowmaster mufflers on my 2000 V6 Accord because I didn't want it to sound like rice. It sounded pretty good. It was quiet but had nice growl when you got on it. Currently I just like the sound and build of Magnaflow better ... BUT to call it rice, weather you prefer Flowmaster over Magnaflow is just nuts :dizzy:

I have the magnaflow the same as Scaro. I have poor hearing, but my friends all tell me it sounds GOOD.One Sunday leaving Church I stepped on it. The next Sunday a young guy came up and asked me
"do you have a Magnaflow on your Jeep?"
Why yes I do.
"Cool".

Just in case anyone was on the fence about the flowmaster super 44 off road muffler, flowmaster discontinued it. I just left Summit Racing a couple hours ago. The only one they have left is offset on the inlet and it exits on center. The off road version wasn't in stock and when the guy tried to order one for me that's when he told me that it's no longer available. :banghead: :furious:
I really wanted that one too, I've never seen a muffler made of that kind of armour before. You'll have to try to smash it on the trail and even then it would be hard.
