I am in toss up as to which one I want to get. The front receiver hitch can be used to pull myself out and also use it for winch application.
Tow hooks take up less space and are less complicated to install. Which one is better for a general use? I have found both online and are relatively close in price.

Front Receiver hitch is hard to find. They don't make them anymore. Unless you fab you own.

Can you use the rear hitch as a front or are they different widths? Just curious.

They mount totally different. But somebody on here has made one work off another jeep.

On the contrary.

KJ 2002-2007

KK 2008-current

I don't know what the hooks are rated at..
But the KJ has a straight line pull of 3000lbs max.
and the KK has a straight line pull of 3500lbs max.

Another site for the front hitch (though the final product is the same I think) is http://www.etrailer.com/fmr-2007_Jeep_Liberty.htm. I have the front hooks and think they look pretty tough but the hitch would definately have more applications. Good luck.

Front hitch will hold up better. I've seen the stock hooks uncurl under moderate to heavy use.
