Overheating 04 KJ

Well I went for a very short ride to pick up a pizza and movie. As soon as we got going my jeep was only blowing cold air on the full heat setting and I was already warmed up. Went in got the movie, came back outside and started it again, it blew hot air for about 5 seconds then back to cold. Drove a bit further down the road to pick up the pizza and my engine heat rose from below half to all the way to H. I took it home and put it in the driveway, my coolant level looks normal. Any ideas guys??

Thermostat,that's the cheap thing to start with.

Im gonna grab a thermostat and try to swap it out this weekend, how easy is it on a KJ? I've done it on a WJ before.

Trying to remember... sounds weird but i think it's on the lower hose.Maybe some one else will chime in.

It's on the lower Hose passenger side. 30 minutes with the right tools in the driveway.

Well new thermostat and coolant and it's still overheating, water pump or radiator maybe?

Well got probably the worst case scenario news...it is the water pump jayme, but also my radiator and head gasket

, cant wait to see this bill, is there a temporary fix i could use to not overheat for about a day to trade it in? I cant see dumping $1000-$2000 into this thing.

Has it been overheating for awhile or did it just start?

Pretty much just started, I'm having it checked out still to make sure. With all the money already in my jeep im sure I will fix it, its just frustrating. I'm hoping its a clogged radiator or something else..ill keep everyone posted.

I had it looked at by a family mechanic and he said he's almost positive its a blow head gasket, said the impeller on the water pump looked fine, radiator could still be clogged though. I'll know for sure monday since I had to have it towed to a shop that does head gaskets. :cry:

Well guys jeeps back! Turned out to be a bad impeller on my water pump, it was plastic!? Anyway no head gasket as I was originally scared of. Sadly this ate up most of my funds for my Duratracs and rock rails but hey, it runs!
