My new 2006 Renegade has a 20.5 gallon tank per the manual.

I usually fill up when the fuel gauge shows around 1/4 tank remaining, and usually get 15-16 gallons to go in. So I'd say my gauge is pretty accurate on how much gas is really left.

I have never gone past 15.2 gallons for a refill and that was when the EVIC had already showed 0 miles left. I probably went about 5 miles beyond the 0 miles left. That means we get about 4 gallons of reserve, which with our MPG, will give us emergency miles of around 60-80 miles (driving in nowhere Kansas at night and all the gas stations are closed on I-70, that spare gas will be needed).

I have an 05' and my fuel light comes on when there is 3 gallons left in the tank. Thats only if the 05' has a 20.5 gallon fuel tank which I'm pretty sure it does.

My '05 has the 20.5 gallon tank. When my low fuel light comes on, it means find diesel NOW! Takes 20 gallons when the light comes on!

guess the brochure uses metric (UK) gallon conversion in Canada to 17.1 from 78L. imperial (US) is 20.6 gallons.

My low fuel light came on once in RI while I was heading to the airport to pick up my fiancee. I didn't have time to stop and figured I'd stop after I picked her up. I didn't factor in the fact that there isn't a lot of diesel avaialble at 9PM on the road between Provi airport and Narragansett. The EVIC said 0 miles to empty when the light came on. I kept driving until I found a station that had diesel and was actually open (what else was I going to do?). Pulled in and filled my 20.5 gallon tank with 21.8 gallons. I was 42 miles past "0 miles to empty." :-)

Today the light came on and could only push 18.2 gallons in.

Is that what comes stock on the non-us KJ's ?

Nope, it's an aftermarket replacement tank.

I bet thats fun at the pump!

Yeah, the most I've ever put in was about 110 litres, at $1.14 per litre. That's US$92 for a tank. Ouch!

Wouldnt adding that extra gas weigh the jeep down even more and get worse gas millage?

The most I've put in was 18.5. The EVIC had been on 'E' for over 30 mi. By my reckoning, that means I had about 20 miles left, and a gallon, or less......
