I need to replace the fan clutch on my 02. Does anyone have a trick to hold the water pump in place so I turn the clutch nut without turning the water pump?

It looks like you need "special tool 6958 spanner wrench and 8346 adapters" and turn the mounting nut counter clockwise as viewed from the front. Threads on the fan drive are right hand.

So ah, hopefully you can find a spanner wrench that'll work for you. Good luck Matt. (not meant sarcastic, you know me so I figured I should clarify)

Lilmatty, where are you buying the new clutch? Here it is cheap, I think its something crazy like $200 at the dealer.

http://www.newmoparparts.com/mopar-parts.htm

You must go to it under body parts, not mech parts for some reason. Its just $108 from there. If you do not care, take me some pics of the electric fan while you have the shroud out. Im looking to add the mech fan since mine didnt come with it and I would like to know if the electric fan is different.

The electric fan is the same. You will need the larger fan shroud though if you add the mechanical fan.

The mechanical fan makes it a witch to change your oil. You have to get at the filter from underneath the jeep and it makes for putting your arm at a really weird angle.

I have the mech fan due to the towing package.

The 2004 libby already has the bigger shroud. All I need is the fan.

This thread's in jeopardy of being hijacked.

Still looking for "Miller Special Tool 6958 spanner wrench and 8346 adapter pins". Anybody have any idea where to buy them?

Have you looked at Harbor Freight or granger?

Other than that I would look for one of the Snap on or Macc tool vans that run by the dealers.

Sorry about hi-jacking lilmatty. I do not remeber who it was, but a guy on here or somewhere took his off and said he had to get them at the dealer. I thought about buying it off of him but never did. I do not remember who that was though. I cannot believe they would make that to where you must have a special tool to get it off, thats really stupid.
