well yeah, i guess you could do that, but it would probably be cheaper to just strap a leaf blower to the throttle body...I thik there was a thread here where that was discussed.

on a more serious note, there is someone here who had experience with a supercharger (a real one by Kenne Bell i believe) and it turns out that the piston rings are too close to the top of the piston, so under boost, you end up blowing the rings. Or at least I think that's what the problem was. Either way, i know that there are no longer any true superchargers available for the Liberty...i'm sure someone else will chime in with more details...

Oh, and on the cross drilled rotors thing, i know there was a thread on here about that too, but the consensus seems to be that the only thing you will get with cross-drilled rotors, is longer brake distances (due to decreased area for the pads to grip on (the big 'ol holes in the metal)) and an increased likelihood that you'll crack or warp your rotors because they aren't as strong anymore...

And i really appologize if i sound like i'm bashing your ideas, i just don't want to see you spend money on something that will cause you problems later on...and also keep in mind, this is just my opinion from what i've read, how you use this info is up to you.

I will have to disagree with Savage on the Break Rotor thing.

What I have found is that with Cermic Pads and the Cross Drilled & Slotted rotors my breaking power has increased due to the lack of excess heat & break dust. I however am only one opinoin :).....

I have had mine on for about 3 months now and love them. After I have had them on for about 1 year I will also post something because I have managed to warp two OEM rotors in less then 1 year each so we will see how these hold up to my obvious over use of the breaks :).

Later,
Dan

I was thinking of getting cross drilled or slotted rotors, but then thought since it goes off road it may be too easy to pick up a rock in a hole or slot and ruin them or the pads. Any thoughts on this ? I called Kenne Bell a few years ago looking for the supercharger, the said it was gone for good, lack of demand.

It's Crap.......A supercharger needs to spin at the spead of the exhaust fumes. Electric will not do that and only spin to a specific speed. It's crap. I looked into the same thing for my friends 99 Grand am GT

JeepJunky33,
Superchargers are gear driven rotary postive displacement pumps. Driven of the engine, usually by a belt in automotive applications.
A turbocharger is a exhaust driven turbine.
This junk on ebay is neither, save some money and go buy a heater fan from a junker if you think it can help. It's the same technology.

lol that's what I figured. Just thought it would be a good topic. I wish they would make a real supercharger. Someone actually told me about it while I was buying my KJ.....that's one of the reasons I bought it as well. Well I guess it's rotor time.....

I was wondering if it might help at high altitude. By pressurizing the intake 1-2 psi, it might offset the thinner air at higher altitudes. I know that when I went to Colorado, my Liberty ran like a dog trying to go over the passes.

I know that they had a supercharger for the liberty at the very beginning of it's life (It's was on the first Liberty Patriot, on TRUCKS!) But then they realized that the push rods (I think taht was one of the reasons) could not handle the boost. But I'm sure in time it will happen. I think it would be great though.

The libby doesnt have pushrods, it was the piston rings. It would cost to much to replace all the pistons just to get a super charger.
