The story goes like this....
Installed my Frankenlift on Saturday together with Pixeldzn's.
We were having hard time installing the front side so we decided to drop the lower control arm and make things easier. Of course, when doing that your alignment goes out of whack. We tried to put it on the right place but it was hard and we knew we needed an alignment anyway so we decided to take the easy way. It took no more than an hour for the fronts to be done and less than that for the back.
On the way back home I definetly felt the miss-alignment so I decided to call the dealer where I bought my KJ from and told them what I needed to be done after the lift. As soon as the word LIFT went out of my mouth, they decided they did not want to deal with it anymore and started giving me the story about my warranty being voided and crap.... Since I already know that it does not go that way I calmly let them know I'll be taking my buss somewhere else and left.
Thru some contacts here I decided to give a call to Schaumburg Jeep and told them the same, how I wanted to bring a lifted KJ for alignment after installing a Frankenlift. The Service manager - a gentleman by the name of Bill - told me it was no problem at all and I should bring it anytime. Well, I did take it in for alignment & oil change. After leaving the KJ at the dealer I got a call from Bill and was informed of several problems with the KJ - At first I understood that there was a small crack/leak from the front Diff, some leak on the pinion seal, and another somewhere else. Later I found out that due to my poor reception on the cell phone where I was called earlier in the morning, there was no such crack on the front diff - but it needed to be re-sealed again?...
Anyway... Bill informed me that all parts & labor were covered under warranty and at the end I paid for the oil change and alignment - total of $ 95.00.
I picked the KJ up last night and I also happened to spot another lifted KJ in the shop - having some work done - end up being mattnmette's KJ - another midwest member.
I left the dealer and the minute I started driving the newly aligned KJ it was like new - perfectly aligned .
I know this is a long story but I just want to say thanks to Bill and all the crew at Schaumburg Jeep for the good work. I'll be visiting that dealership as long as I own a Jeep.
