You may want to do a forum search or check the tire section of general forum. I've done a bit of looking as I'm nearing the end of the stock tires at 40,000 miles. Looks like with a stock suspension and rims you can easily go with 235 or 245 width tires; 255s may or may not work depending on exactly how your vehicle sits and rides.

245/70-16 is a factory size on lots of other Jeeps from that era, and SHOULD have been the factory size for the Liberty (it's the exact same diameter as the 225/75 factory size). So those will obviously work fine.

The question is, can you get 255s under there... without a lift of some sort I think it'll be tight. My 255s rubbed with a 2.5" lift under the Jeep...so I'm thinking you'd have to do some trimming if you run those on stock suspension.

If not using it were people, the search button would be China.

Unfortunately, the search function on this particular forum SUCKS. Which is why, after 6 years and 2,000 posts I still don't use it either. It sucks. You can't find **** with it.

245/70/16 is the largest that will fit without rubbing and will somewhat correct the speedo error. It is overall larger than the stock size based on tire calculator. 235/70 would be closer to the same size. Look at the tire forum on this site for more sizing info.

I run 245/70/16 for winters and 245/65/17 summers.

I have Hankook Dynapro ATM in 235/75/R16 no lift no rubbing. They were cheep at $100 each mounted and balanced, and new stems. VERY good in snow and on wet roads. As far as mud I haven't taken it wheelin', but when in the woods hunting, muddy fire/ logging roads were no problem. They clear out real well.

My :2cents:

See viewtopic.php?f=98&t=22650 for a tire fit chart. Found by searching the CRD Tech section for the word "tire"

Folks, I'll agree that the search function could be improved but by using the available filters it does work although it did take me a bit to figure out the "logic" of how the search works. For example if I want to find a post of mine regarding tires all I have to do is run a single Search query with the keyword "tire", my screen name as author and limit the search to this forum. If you run a query based only on a word without limiting the forum searched you do get every hit possible on the entire board.

The built-in search function in this forum does suck. So use google instead by doing:

"search query" site:lostjeeps.com/forum

I have 245/70R16 with stock suspension for nearly 20,000 miles not any issues. mine had 235/70R16 badyear silent Armor on it when I got it with not a ton of treat left for a to be good for winter, but passed inspection. I changed to the 245 Hercules Terra Trac AT. even though they are not a top end brand tire I think they ride, better, handle better, have better traction and are quieter than the Silent Armor. 245 looks good too filles out the wheel wells just right.

I have run 245/70/16 for the past 4 years with never and issue with rubbing. The only issue now is that no one makes a good tread pattern in a H-speed rated tire. So I will be soon dropping to a S-spped rating and Kumho 61's to replace my get me anywhere 798's.
