Since the Liberty has been out of warranty we have not had any issues until now, the passenger CV joint is popping and I have a few questions.

Is 52111780AB the correct part number? You cannot search for CV on here because search words need to be four or more letters, but is this the part that some people were having issues with the length being wrong on some after market models?
I have only changed one half shaft before on a Escort and other than having to devise a slide hammer to get the thing off it was a pretty simple, what am in for on this one. The instructions in the service manual seem pretty complex, do I read it right that the intermediate shaft needs to be removed?.
I am no mechanic, but I managed the timing belt and water pump on the Libby last year, about how long should I set aside for this job with hand tools.
Will I need any special tools?

Try this string viewtopic.php?f=5&t=59802&p=664255&hilit=axle#p664255 You can sneak up on the issue in the search by using "axle", or "constant" or "velocity" etc and then searching within the results on "cv". There are several strings to the effect that except for NAPA the after market ones are too short. I cannot speak to the part number as I cannot find the one you listed in either the 05 or 06 parts manuals. If I am reading the parts manuals correctly the #s are 05066022AA Right and 05066023AA Left but I cannot get a hit on those numbers or yours on a couple of the Jeep parts online stores. I can find axle assembles whose pictures look just like the ones I used in the parts manuals but would hesitate to order without calling to confirm. Steve White Motors seems to have the best online price at ca. $250 @ but I don't know how that compares to NAPA.

I hope I do not have that problem, my wife is taking the Jeep on 200 mile trip for work in a couple of weeks.

How tight do you need to turn to get it to start popping?
Remember the Liberty turns a lot tighter than a lot of other cars/trucks/SUVs and if you turn very tight it will pop sooner. If it pops when you make a normal turn, you have a problem. If it only does it on a tight turn, you have some time before it blows up.
