Our '05 Liberty Sport(3.7L - 4WD) has a fuel tank overflow problem. When you clip the lever to full on the nozzle it always overflows. Doesn't matter where in town we fill up. As soon as the tank fills up, and the nozzle turns off, there's always a good amount of fuel spilling out. So I just figure how much fuel we need and slow the rate of flow into the tank. Does anyone else have this issue?

i've noticed mine has a propensity to regurgitate on fill up as well sometimes. I NEVER try and top off the tank in mine for that exact reason.

I always top of my tank, and I don't have any problems with overflowing. I have a 2.4 liter engine....do we have the same tank? I believe my tank takes 70-75 liters. (15-16 us gal)

This is a fairly common problem and there are several threads on it.

Mine does the same thing.

I manually add gas in near the end of the fill-up and slow the rate of flow way down and this is a work around of the issue.

Otherwise, you have to replace the filler neck and possibly the whole tank to solve the problem.

Yeah mine does this and has almost since I bought it. To try and remedy it I drived a few miles after the light pops, fill it normal to 17 gallons, stop and let the tank burps, then I finish as slow as the pump will pump. Usually clicks and doesn't spill.
